Felt inspired to write this :) Writing out thoughts at this time definitely has a therapeutic effect. As social psychologist James Pennebaker's research shows, writing has wide-ranging effects. In fact, writing about trauma reduces stress and aids immunity! "Writing it out" enables us to not only get the wadded nests outside of our heads untangled into words on paper - it also enables us to gain a birds' eye view of any given situation, allowing us to see different angles, and gain perspective. “As a result of this intervention several studies have found drops in self-reported depression or distress." (Pennebaker, 2006). I hope this article provides some solace and insight at this time of unprecedented pandemic pandemonium! I also encourage you to write, or engage in any art form that aids you in processing and externalizing emotions!
With love, and stay well!
