✨ Yesterday we celebrated National Fairytale Day at Social Hour! 🏰📖 Residents brought their favorite characters to life and shared plenty of laughs with some fairytale Mad Libs.

Our Navigate residents sprinkled in a little extra magic 🦄 as they whipped up colorful unicorn cupcakes and worked together to create their very own fairytale. ✨

🏰🐻FeatherStone’s Fairytale 🪄🦄

Once upon a time, there was a kind Fairy Godmother who used her sparkling wand to keep the kingdom happy and bright. But one sneaky night, the Big Bad Wolf stole it!

He tried casting spells, but instead of power and glory, he turned flowers into cabbages and his own tail pink. The kingdom was a mess.

When Little Red Riding Hood heard the news, she hurried to the Three Bears for help. Together they made a clever plan.

They left three bowls of porridge outside the Wolf’s cave—one too salty, one too sweet, and one just right—with a note calling him “the most handsome wolf in the forest.”

Puffed up with pride, the Wolf set down the wand to eat the perfect bowl.

Quick as a flash, Little Red grabbed the wand and the Bears blocked the cave! The Wolf slipped, the wand was saved, and magic was restored.

Grateful beyond words, the Fairy Godmother threw a grand royal parade in their honor, with music, flowers, and cheering crowds.

And the Wolf? He decided stealing was far too much trouble—and baking was much safer.

In honor of Black History Month, we celebrated with a delicious lunch inspired by rich culinary traditions. Thank you to our talented chefs for creating such a meaningful and memorable meal for our residents.
BBQ ribs, Mac and Cheese, Gumbo Greens, sweet potatoes, honey butter corn bread, and a delicious peach cobbler! It doesn’t get any better than that!

We had a wildly wonderful afternoon as the RARE group visited our community with two incredible raptors! 🦉🦅

We met Denali the Rough-legged Hawk and Bog the Barred Owl and learned all about these amazing birds and the important work of RARE — the Raptor Advocacy, Rehabilitation & Education organization, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing injured birds of prey and educating communities about wildlife conservation.

Residents loved seeing these beautiful raptors up close and hearing their stories.

Fun facts we learned:
🪶 Rough-legged hawks migrate thousands of miles from the Arctic each winter — some even visit Iowa!
🦉 Barred owls are known for their famous call that sounds like “Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all?”
👀 Raptors have incredible eyesight and can spot prey from far away!

It was a wonderful afternoon of learning, curiosity, and nature right here at home. Thank you, RARE, for sharing these amazing creatures with us! 🦉🦅

Residents put their UI sports knowledge to the test when Will from UI Track & Field and Ava from UI Women’s Wrestling joined us for a friendly game of trivia! 🖤💛

Our residents proved they really know their Hawkeyes — from historic wins to fun facts, they didn’t miss a beat! We loved the laughter, the competition, and the special time spent connecting over all things Iowa. Go Hawks! 🐥🏆

Our address may be Hickory Trail, but it certainly felt like Bourbon Street tonight! What a wonderful Mardi Gras it was. Plenty of beads, masks, & hurricanes to go around. The George Jazz Group was phenomenal, as always.
