The Viscardi Center Founded by Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr., who served as disability advisor to eight U.S.

Presidents and became one of the world’s leading advocates, The Viscardi Center educates, employs and empowers people with disabilities. It provides Pre-K-12 education, school-to-work youth transition services, vocational training, career counseling and employment placement, and assistive technology to children, adolescents, and adults with a wide variety of disabilities. The Viscardi Center also assists businesses in advancing disability inclusive cultures in their workplaces.

What a perfect way to kick off 2026! Sunny, our beloved facility dog, celebrated his 8th birthday with Henry Viscardi School students on their first day back from winter break. The students sang, Sunny enjoyed his favorite cake, and the celebration wrapped up with plenty of cuddles—setting the tone for a joyful year ahead.

Applications for The Viscardi Center’s 2026–2027 Inclusive Higher Education program will be available online during the first week of January. The program is open to students with a local diploma who are OPWDD approved. To receive the application link when it goes live, email your name and email address to ssangiorgio@viscardicenter.org. You can also visit thinkcollege.net to learn more about inclusive postsecondary programs and what opportunities like this can offer.

Our HVS students kicked off the holiday season yesterday with a lively celebration! They shared tasty treats, got creative with coloring, danced along to fun tunes, and ended the day with a cozy movie. It was a joyful day of friendship, fun, and laughter.

Our Reach for a Star Luncheon struck all the right notes! Thank you to everyone who joined us — your support keeps the harmony alive in the friendships, confidence, and community our students create through The Henry Viscardi School’s afterschool and adapted sports programs. A standing ovation goes to Alysha Umphress, whose breathtaking performance alongside our talented second graders had the room singing, clapping, and cheering for more, showing just how powerful shared moments and a supportive community can be in shaping our students’ lives.

In honor of Veterans Day, our Henry Viscardi School R.A.M.P. students led a parade through the hallways. The celebration brought together our students, staff, and local veterans to honor and thank those who have proudly served our country. Wishing all veterans a happy Veterans Day!

Spooky fun filled the halls of The Viscardi Center last week! Our HVS students enjoyed trick-or-treating in their costumes during the Halloween parade, and at the party coordinated by our amazing SEPTA. The Youth Transition Services students celebrated with food, music, and their spookiest looks.
