Femita Ayanbeku is no stranger to beating the odds. She lost her leg at 11 due to a car accident but became a paralympic track star, qualifying for both the 2016 and 2020 Paralympic Games.

Ayanbeku couldn't compete at the 2020 Paralympics after testing positive for COVID, and after having a baby in January, many weren't sure if she would qualify for this year's games. She qualified and is determined to bring back a medal! (Via Amplitude Media Group)

Femita Ayanbeku gave birth to her first baby in January. Next month in Paris, the amputee track star will attempt to deliver her first Paralympic gold for Team USA.

Mike, a left transfemoral amputee, lost his leg in a car accident when he was 18 years old. As a kid, he loved to run fast, and today he was able to run again. Caleb is a young volunteer firefighter who lost his right leg as a result of a congenital birth defect. His determination in life is contagious, hear his story in his own words. At the age of 24 Lauren Wasser underwent amputation on her right leg due to toxic shock syndrome in 2012. Six years later (in 2018) Lauren amputated her left leg due to complications attributed to her initial bout with toxic shock syndrome.

Even as an amputee Lauren never gave up on her dream of modeling and gained notoriety in her field. Today she is featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2024 issue, rocking the photoshoot and bringing awareness to the Don’t Shock Me 19 - Maddy Massabni Foundation for Toxic Shock Awareness nonprofit organization.
