“As nurses and as leaders, we know firsthand how vital our Home Care Aides are to the heart of hospice care,” shared Amanda Pendergrast, IPU & Facilities Director, and Jessica Knot, Homecare Director. “Our HCAs provide the kind of care that speaks volumes — with gentle hands, compassionate hearts, and a deep understanding of dignity at life’s end.”

Whether in homes or in our inpatient unit, CNAs are often the ones holding a hand, offering comfort, and making sure our patients feel seen and cared for. Their work is sacred, and we are deeply grateful for the skill and love they bring to our team and to our mission every day.

Thank you for all you do, not just today, but every single day for the patients and their families!

This week, we celebrated our amazing Home Care Aides with a special Sunshine Breakfast — a small token of appreciation for the big difference they make every single day.

Their dedication, compassion, and care shine bright in the lives of our patients and families. We’re so thankful for each of them (and miss those that couldn't be with us)! 💛

Are you following along with Shepherd's Cove Foundation Cove Couture People's Choice voting? It's getting hot over there! Who is your favorite local model? Vote for them and help support programs like Charity Care!

💃✨ NEXT ROUND OF THE GOLDEN HANGER: VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! 👠🎉 👉 https://form.jotform.com/251117189901153

Fashion friends, it’s getting heated on the catwalk!

Sarah Kate Edmondson has officially launched herself into first place, leaving us all wondering if she moonlights as a runway rocket. She's got style, she's got grace, and now she’s got the lead.

BUT HOLD YOUR HANGERS—because this race is far from over!

📈 Gigi Delgado, Zack Reno, Jeff Lamour, and Jennifer Elrod have been serving serious fashion-fueled momentum, and they’re now HOT on the heels of Clint Irby and Morgan Lavender, who thought they were comfortably strutting in the top tier. Not anymore! The stilettos are out, and this is a sprint to the hanger!

👛💖 Every vote = $5 donated to life-changing programs like:

👚 Charity Care – Where compassion never goes out of style

💔 Community Grief Support – Because healing should always be haute

🩺 Palliative Care – Delivering dignity with every detail

Only one can claim the legendary Golden Hanger, but everyone can be a hero on this runway of giving. We raised $11,000 last year and need your help to get there again! Only 10 days until Cove Couture, and we are still far away from our goal!

Vote now. Vote often. Vote like someone just walked down the aisle in Crocs.

May we never forget.

She’s a family-loving nurse with a heart for hiking, deep faith, and caring for others through every season of life. Michelle sees her work as a calling, a way to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus, and a chance to honor each breath, each story, and every sacred moment.

Q: Title or Position
Home Care Nurse

Q: Any personal items you want to throw out there?
Married to my husband, Shane. We are a blended family with 4 beautiful children and 8 lovely grandbabies.

Q: Any hobbies?
Hiking and walking, spending time with my family.

Q: School/University and Degree
LPN school at Gadsden State Community College
Currently attending LPN-RN school at Snead State Community College

Q: What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Loving on people. Being there for our patients and their families during some of the most difficult times in their lives is a huge blessing to me personally.

Q: What’s your spirit animal and why?
I think a dog. Dogs are loyal, they thrive when surrounded by people, they love unconditionally, and they form strong emotional bonds. Most dogs do not like change. Dogs remind us to lead with the heart, stay connected, and be a light in others’ lives.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
The Holy Land, to walk where Jesus walked.

Q: If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
A mortician or undertaker. I find it so interesting and would love to have a look behind the scenes.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?
My genuine love for people and wanting to make a difference in their lives. I feel like hospice and nursing allow me to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It is truly serving others and one of the greatest blessings in my life.

Q: What’s one thing you wish the general public understood better about hospice, palliative care, or grief support?
Hospice is not where life stops. It is where each breath is honored. It is where love deepens, where stories are shared, quiet hands are held, and laughter comes through tears. Hospice is so much more than the end. It is not about death at all.
