Meet Ryan Smothers, known as “Mr. Ryan” to parents, teachers, and students in the know. As our in-school bereavement coordinator, Ryan shares his heartfelt “why.”

This raw, unfiltered testimony reminds us of the vital importance of grief support within our school systems. When children are navigating the loss of someone they love, having a safe place and a trusted guide makes all the difference.

For many, Memorial Day is a time of remembrance and reflection. But for those who have lost a loved one who served, it can be a deeply personal and painful day.

Grief doesn’t take holidays. Today, we hold space for the families, friends, and comrades who carry the weight of loss—especially those whose hearts ache for someone in uniform who never came home.

At Shepherd’s Cove Grief Support, we see you. We honor your loss. And we walk beside you as you remember.

A pinwheel may seem simple, but it spins with purpose.

Each one planted in front of our building is a symbol of hope—hope for safe, happy childhoods, and a brighter future for every child. 💙

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and we’re proud to stand with organizations across Alabama to raise awareness and strengthen families.

Our grief support program is honored to be a grantee of the Alabama Children’s Trust Fund, helping us reach children and families in need with care, compassion, and community.

Prevention is powerful, and together, we can build a world where every child has the chance to grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by love. 💙
