Join us in congratulating Madison, our Clinical Care Director, on 6 outstanding years at Eyes on Albertville and Eyes on Guntersville! You may see her at either office anywhere from the front desk, to optical, to scribing in the exam room for the doctors, or even training new employees- she truly does it all. Her commitment and leadership help set the standard for the care we provide every day.

We asked Madison a few questions about her past year at EOA and EOG:
👁️If your job had a theme song, what would it be? Busy Woman 👩🏻‍⚕️

👁️What’s something new you’ve learned in your role this year? I feel like I learn new things all of the time! I wear many hats around the office so I’m able to learn something new about every position often!

👁️What’s one word your coworkers would use to describe you? skirt. If you know, you know 😂

👁️What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you? I know the random trivia that most people don’t care about 🤣

👁️What’s something you’re excited about in the year ahead? I’m so excited about SECO later this month! A few of us from both offices will be attending several classes there and learning about some of the new technology and up-to-date medical care.

👁️What’s something you’re excited about in the year ahead? Growing in my role, continuing to learn more about eye health, and helping even more patients see their best.

Congratulations to Dr. Branch for being awarded UAB School of Optometry 2025 Young Alumnus of the Year! Dr. Branch has distinguished herself through leadership and service, making significant contributions to the profession of optometry and we couldn’t be more proud!

Gussie Branch, OD, is the 2025 Young Alumnus of the Year by the UAB School of Optometry Alumni Association. A 2016 graduate of UABSO, Dr. Branch is an optometrist at Eyes on Albertville in Alabama and serves as secretary-treasurer of the Alabama Optometric Association (ALOA). She is also on the UABSO Alumni Association Board. Branch has distinguished herself through leadership and service, making significant contributions to the profession of optometry.

We are so thankful for our community for having their Eyes On us! Early this morning we had an emergency and we didn't even know it. Around 3am a flower pot in front of our office caught fire - unfortunately from a cigarette butt that had been discarded earlier in the day. Our cameras show that within just a few minutes of it catching fire, an incredible good samaritan who was driving by pulled into our parking lot and alerted authorities. The fire department was on the scene within minutes and it was put out. We are so thankful that there is no damage to our building.
When we went back and watched all of this unfold on our security cameras we were overcome with gratitude for this woman and the fire department. We couldn't believe that she was driving by at just the right time and acted. We are sharing the photos in hopes of identifying her so that we can thank her properly 🩷 One of the things that makes our community special is how we look after each other and we won't forget how you looked out for us!

(Lastly, a respectful reminder to NOT put cigarette butts in flower pots or around buildings. Not only is it toxic litter, but it's obviously a fire hazard and just really bad for you in general.)

👁️What’s something new you’ve learned in your role this year? I don’t know - I’ve learned SO much!! I feel like I learn something new about eyes everyday 👁️ I love it!

👁️What’s one word your coworkers would use to describe you? Hopefully, that I’m kindhearted and outgoing!

👁️What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you? I am low key obsessed with Slim Chickens 🤪 and the drive thru employees may or may not know me by name / my order 🫣 we’re all friends now!

👁️What’s something you’re excited about in the year ahead? SECO conference coming up in February - excited to learn more about the Stellest Myopia control lenses for pediatric patients! And excited for another year serving our community with their eyewear needs 👓
