🕊️ Angela Denise Gilbert, lovingly known as Angy, passed away April 1, 2026, at the hospital in Knoxville, Iowa, at the age of 59. In true Angy fashion, leaving this world on April Fool’s Day feels oddly fitting to those who knew her.

Angy spent most of her childhood growing up in North Aurora, Illinois, where she lived until the age of 17. After the tragic passing of her father in 1983, who was killed by a drunk driver, she moved to Albia, Iowa, where she was raised by her grandmother, Arlene Gilbert. Angy graduated from Albia Community High School with the Class of 1985.

At the time of her passing, Angy had been a dedicated employee at Dairy Queen in Knoxville, Iowa, for 11 years, and treasured the friendships she made there.

Angy was tough, stubborn, outspoken, and a little rough around the edges, but she had a heart of gold. She loved people deeply and without judgment, faced life’s challenges with strength, and rarely complained. She spoke her mind freely—and yes, threw in a cuss word here and there—but she gave loyalty, honesty, and love without hesitation.

She had an amazing, contagious laugh, and how could we ever forget those hiccups? They were legendary- truly unforgettable. Angy enjoyed the simple things in life: cooking, tending to her plants (she had a green thumb), fishing, grilling out, and spending time with the people she cared about.

Above all else, Angy's greatest pride and joy were her children, whom she adored with her whole heart. Being their mother was one of the most important roles in her life. She loved them fiercely and stood by them always.

Angy is survived by her three children; Jessica (Jacob) Pemberton, Sasha (John) Bregar, Damian (Hope) Bregar. Brother: Shane (Leslie) Gilbert. Grandchildren: Trenton, Laney, Braydon, Jaydon, Blayce, Kobe, Kabrien, and a baby girl on the way. Aunt and Uncle Steve and Judy Griffin, and her favorite cousin Monica (Jesse) Burress, along with many other extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; Larry Gilbert; grandmother Arlene Gilbert;.Grandparents Dale and Elizabeth Arihood (McCleary) and her favorite Uncle John Arihood; and other beloved family and friends.

Angy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Her laugh, her loyalty, and her fearless way of speaking her mind left a lasting mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.

Following her wishes, Angy was cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at Oakview Cemetery in Albia, Iowa on April 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Close friends and family are welcome to attend. Memorials may be made to the family.

03/19/2026

🕊️One must believe in God’s timing as Charlene Crall arrived in heaven the afternoon of March 16, 2026. The Irish angels reunited our spunky, fun-loving 90-year-old with her Irish husband, Bernard Crall, so they could dance the day away on St. Patrick’s Day.

Born Catherine Charlene on April 22, 1935, to Charley and Catherine (Carr) Anderson. She was their firstborn and was followed by the birth of her baby brother, Mick. Charlene lived her entire life in Monroe County, Iowa and most of her life in her childhood home on old Highway 34 west of Albia. As she aged and some would suggest she downsize and move, she would quickly respond with one of her many Charlene-isms: “Why would I move to town as I am only five minutes from the square and I have the best neighbors.” She loved her country living lifestyle.

Charlene attended Pharis Country School west of Albia for her primary school education and was a 1952 graduate of Albia Community High School. She received her nurse’s training through St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Ottumwa, Iowa. Upon completion of her nurse’s training, she became a registered nurse (RN) in 1955. Charlene was very proud of her RN accomplishment, and her credentials enabled her to practice in a profession in which she excelled. She touched many lives in her career.

Charlene was a newborn/pediatric nurse, a visiting nurse, a staff nurse in medical offices, an industrial nurse and a school nurse. But for the majority of her working life, she worked as an office nurse for Dr. H.J. Richter in Albia and as the very popular school nurse for the Albia Community School District. Even after her retirement from school nursing, she continued to work part-time as an office nurse at the Monroe County Hospital Medical Clinic and as an occupational health nurse for Cargill until she fully retired at age 82. A favorite Charlene-ism regarding her nursing career would have to be (no matter the seriousness of the situation): “Put a butterfly bandage on it and you’ll be all right.”

Charlene and Bernard were united in marriage on November 23, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, Iowa, with the Reverend Harry Linnenbrink officiating. Bernard and Charlene were blessed with four children: Cathy, Tim, Dave and Jean Anne. They celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to Bernard’s death on March 30, 2020.

At almost 91 years of age, Charlene continued to possess a strong will to live and love of life. She loved to be included and never missed an opportunity to go. She enjoyed a meal out or being invited to a friend’s home, her trips to Walmart for the best doughnuts, her shopping adventures to Christopher & Banks and Snyder’s in Humeston. Even at 90 years of age, Charlene took great pride in her appearance. She was particular about her hair, wanted her shoes to match her outfit, enjoyed carrying a great purse and never was without wearing beautiful pieces of jewelry. She loved a good pair of petite jeans, too! Charlene was tech-savvy and would highly endorse the daily wearing of an Apple Watch.

Charlene enjoyed her family and loved their adventures together. One of her most treasured memories was a family trip with her kids and grandkids to Walt Disney World in Florida. Her happiest days were when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit. She always wanted them to have their own farm memories.

The Crall Family Christmas was always celebrated at the farm even though her family outgrew her living room years ago. Charlene loved her holiday traditions and at her Christmas 2025 celebration, a few of her 70-plus years of recipes were on display. Her “good” dining table was decorated with a beautiful holiday tablecloth, a floral centerpiece and red wine goblets for the finishing touch. She insisted on all the adults sitting down at the table together for the Christmas meal.

Charlene was an avid card player, enjoying a monthly game of canasta with her card club girlfriends. Her card club started up in the early 1960s. What was once an eight-member group was down to four, but the mighty four still met, played cards, visited and shared desserts. Charlene absolutely loved this gathering. She hosted the ladies in January and served her famous chocolate pie.

In April 2025, Charlene’s family hosted her 90th birthday open house in Georgetown, Iowa. There were more than a hundred guests who attended and she greeted and visited with each one. Charlene had a fabulous day and was still talking about it almost a year later.

Next to her Catholic faith, her family and friends, Charlene adored her animals. She felt the loss when Penny, her collie, died in 2019 and again just recently when her favorite cat, Scooby-Doo, went missing. Charlene rescued any poor little kitten or cat that made its way to her porch. She turned a deaf ear if anyone mentioned maybe she had one too many cats! She loved her two paint horses (mother-daughter pair, Cuddles and Dolly) and fed them treats whenever she ventured to the barn.

Charlene was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia and a member of the parish Altar and Rosary Society. She loved to attend luncheons with her retired friends from school and worked hard to stay connected with her friends and to friends of her children. Charlene had a rather large fan base. She enjoyed sharing happy hour with anyone who stopped by her house. And there was always a salty treat to accompany the beverage of choice.

Charlene had many interests and talents. She was an especially gifted seamstress, and many have been the recipient of her handmade pillowcases, baby blankets, and quilts. She gave great thought to her gift giving. And even as a nonagenarian, Charlene was still finding new interests. She started watching college basketball in the past couple of years and loved following Caitlin Clark. She took to watching golf tournaments on television as well!

Although she could barely see over the steering wheel, she was an excellent navigator. She knew all the back roads to avoid interstate driving, and her keen memory recalled points of interest to visit. You live to be over ninety, you’ve traveled many a road. Charlene was quite proud of the fact that she was still driving to Dubuque on her own and most times without a companion.

Charlene was a giving person, always finding ways to help others. Her final act of kindness and generosity was as an organ and tissue donor, donating her eyes to the Iowa Donor Network after her death. CCC was truly one of a kind!

Charlene is survived by her children, Dr. Catherine Crall (Mike Sinnott) of Dubuque, IA, Tim (DeeAnn) Crall of Worthington, MN, and Dave (Cathy Jo) Crall of Albia, IA; her grandchildren, Trevor (Allison) Crall, Colin (Christie) Sinnott, Meg (Ryne) George, Taylor (Jessica) Crall, Brendan (Callie) Sinnott and granddaughter-in-law, Shelby (Josh) Fuhs; her great-grandchildren, Kellan, Declan, and Sloane Crall; Jocelyn, Molly, Liam and Cody Sinnott; Hayden, Hadley and Barrett Fuhs; Clara Jo Crall, Natalie George, and Desmond Sinnott. Another great-grandchild, Baby George, will join this growing family very soon.

She is survived by her brother, Mick (Susan) Anderson, brother-in-law, Steve (Gloria) Crall, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Joanne and Mike Wasko, sister-in-law, Helen Shepard and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends who loved her like a mother.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, her daughter, Jean Anne, her grandson, Jarred Crall, her parents, Charley and Catherine Anderson, her parents-in-law, John and Mary Crall, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Joe and Olive Crall, William and Helen Marie Crall, and Kenneth Shepard.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m. with Charlene's family present from 2-4 p.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. A Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m., led by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2026 with Father Isaac Essel officiating at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. Services will be live-streamed on the Sinnott Funeral Home page. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family with memorial designations to be made at a later date.🕊️

🕊️ With deep respect and enduring love, we announce the passing of Reba Elifritz, born on December 5, 1955 and a long-time resident of Centerville, Iowa. Reba, a radiant soul whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met, passed away on March 5, 2026 at home under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. A beloved wife, nurturing mother, adored grandmother, and a cherished friend, she lived her life with an unwavering devotion to her family, and an inexhaustible passion for her work and hobbies.

Reba was a woman of many talents, and she wore many hats throughout her life. She started her career as a bartender, before ascending to a managerial position at Caseys General Stores. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life as she took on the role of a caregiver, offering comfort and support to those in need. Yet, Reba's talents weren't confined to the kitchen or her career. She also had a green thumb, spending countless hours in her garden, nurturing and tending to her plants with the same care and love as she did her family and friends.

Reba was a beacon of love, strength, and resilience, and her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she left behind. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the beauty of friendship, and the joy of shared meals and cherished moments. Although we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led and the countless ways she enriched our lives.

🕊️Charles "Chuck" Leroy Shimer, born on July 5, 1957, in Creston, Iowa, lived a life full of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the open roads. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Chuck was a man of simple pleasures and profound love for his family. His legacy is one of unwavering dedication to his loved ones, and an enduring passion for the roar of an engine and the thrill of a good race.

Chuck spent most of his career navigating the highways and byways of our great nation as a truck driver. His love for the open road was only second to his love for his family. He married the love of his life, Karyn Dwyer, on October 26, 1996, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and a shared love for car tinkering. Chuck was an avid NASCAR fan, relishing in the excitement of each race, and often found himself lost in car shows on television. He also found joy in the simple art of bowling. Above all, his greatest joy was playing with his cherished granddaughter, Willow, creating memories that will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family.

He is survived by his wife, Karyn of Moravia; one daughter, Kaitlyn Shimer; one granddaughter, Willow Shimer; two bothers, Carl (Dawn) Shimer, Robert Shimer; several nieces, nephews and extended family. 03/15/2026

🕊️ Rebecca “Renee” Cossolotto, 52, was born on January 4, 1974 and passed away on March 9, 2026, at her home in Centerville, Iowa.
Renee spent much of her life working in the service industry as a restaurant server, bartender, and manager—jobs that suited her quick wit, thick skin, and ability to chat with just about anyone. She also dedicated 14 years of her life to her mother and father’s pride and joy, Nickelback Redemption Center.
She was the mother of two daughters: Maranda (aka-Mandy poo-poo head) Cossolotto and Bryanna (aka-Skeeter) Schenk and helped in the upbringing of Brent and Samantha Cossolotto. She was especially proud of her role as Grandma Nae to Raegan and Charlytte, who spent many afternoons on her front porch or cooking alongside her in the kitchen, which was, perhaps, what Renee did best. She was, by all accounts, one heck of a cook, and the meals she made were the kind that tasted like home.
Renee is survived by her father, Robert Chapman; her sister, Ericka Ashby and her husband Travis; and many nieces and nephews including Eriney, Hayden, Nolan, Kenzi, Tamara, Makayla, and Katrina, all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind extended family members who meant a great deal to her, especially her uncle Lyle Chapman and cousin/caretaker Kathy Davis. Her neighbor Shirley was always there for her, too, whenever she needed her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Chapman; her brother, and best friend, Jake Chapman; her uncles Randy Kirkland and Brad Kirkland; and her grandmothers that meant the world to her, Norma Cicco and Aline Chapman.
Renee enjoyed the simplest things life had to offer: Sunday dinners and backyard barbecues at her parent’s house, frozen cherry limeades from Sonic, a good tenderloin, tending to her vegetable garden, drinking sweet tea (always with Splenda, never sugar), blasting phenomenal music loud enough to drown out the world, and going for long car rides around the Reservoir to watch the sunset with her dad. She rarely missed a New England Patriots game, or a chance to yell at the television when the good-looking quarterback wasn’t playing up to par. And she had a well-documented appreciation for raunchy Facebook memes.
Renee lived life on her own terms. She may have had a few “friends in low places,” but she was “pretty good at drinkin’ beer.” She knew she wasn’t perfect, and she never tried too hard to pretend otherwise. More than anything, Renee wants everyone to remember, “I’m not crazy, I’m just a little unwell.”
Per wishes cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. 🕊️

Renée was born on January 4th, 1974 and passed away on March 9th, 2026 at the age of 52

🕊️ We are saddened to announce the passing of Linda Kelley, who departed this world on March 7, 2026. Linda was often affectionately known as "Fred" to her friends and family, a testament to her quirky sense of humor and distinctive personality.

Linda found joy in the simplicity of life. She was a diligent and dedicated worker, who spent her career at Cargill in Ottumwa, Iowa, mastering the art of precision and attention to detail. Retirement did not slow her down; instead, she channeled her energy into her passions - gardening and cooking. Linda's garden was a riot of colors and scents, mirroring the vibrancy of her soul, and her kitchen was a haven of warmth and love, where she created meals that nourished both body and soul. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn," and through her love for gardening and cooking, Linda created a thousand forests of joy, love, and memories for all those fortunate enough to know her.

Linda leaves behind her devoted husband, Robert Eklofe, her loving sons, Curt (Stephanie), Kyle (Jamie); grandsons, Dakota, Tyreece (Saundra), Grayson, and great grandson, Daxton, and her cherished sister, Brenda Kendrick. Linda's legacy will not be forgotten; she will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and the love she showed to all those around her. To quote Emily Dickinson, "Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality." Linda's love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Linda has been cremated with no planned services at this time.
