🕊️ In Rockstar Fashion Darren Adamson
1965-2025

The universe gained one heck of a character when Darren Adamson decided to ride off into the sunset at the age of 60. He left behind a lot of love, laughter, loud music, and at least three unfinished motorcycle projects that “just needed one more part.”

Born with a drumstick in one hand and a fishing pole in the other, Darren spent his life chasing the next great song, the perfect catch, and anyone who would listen to his legendary stories. He played drums in a band that shook more garages than concert halls, but man, did they sound good after a few beers.

He was a master of friendship, family, and football Sundays — yelling at the TV as if the team could actually hear him (they never did, but that didn’t stop him). His playlists were loud, his Dad jokes were louder, and his love for the people around him was loudest of all.

Known for having “controversial opinions” and a deep belief that he was probably right about everything, he kept life entertaining and conversations unforgettable.

He leaves behind a blended family who adored him, friends who’ll never forget him, and a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and late-night jam sessions.

So here’s to Darren: may the fish always bite, the drums always keep a perfect beat, and the road ahead be wide open with the wind at your back.

Ride on, Old Man.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Gathering Room, 501 Sheridan Ave., Ottumwa, Iowa 52501, from 3-6 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. 🕊️

🕊️ It is with a fond, yet heavy heart, that we honor the life of Vicki Rae Benjamin, born on December 6, 1955, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Her vibrant life, filled with joy, laughter, and an abundance of love, came to an end on November 13, 2025. Vicki's radiant spirit and her legacy of love and care will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Vicki was a beacon of light and joy to everyone she encountered. After graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1973, she devoted her early years working at Young Transfer and Storage, a company owned by her father, Gene Young. She later retired from Arm and Hammer in Harrisonville, Missouri, where she served diligently in quality control. Vicki's work ethic was unparalleled, but it was her hobbies and passions that truly defined her. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Vicki was a lover of animals, especially her cherished dogs. She lost herself in the rhythm of music, with a special fondness for Toby Keith. She was an avid gamer, enjoyed coloring, and loved the thrill of bingo and casinos. A frequent Amazon shopper, Vicki loved spoiling her children, grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces, a testament to her selflessness and loving nature.

She is survived by her husband Mike Benjamin of Ottumwa; three step children, Heather Benjamin of Ottumwa, Geneva Benjamin of Port Orange, FL, Jeremiah Benjamin of Fairfield; one granddaughter, Ashlynn Hamilton of Centerville; two sisters, Toni Wallace of Ottumwa, Sherry (Joe) Morgan of Harrisonville, MO; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Norma) Ratliff, Steve (Kelliann) Benjamin, all of Allerton; and her fur babies, Leah, Sophie and Pepper, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Jo’ann (George) Young, step-mother, Anna Young; father and mother-in-law, Al and Ruth Benjamin, brother-in-law, Don Wallace, and a niece, Tabatha Ratliff Kirchner.

A celebration of life will be held in the very near future and will be updated on the obituary. Cards of condolences may be mailed to Mike Benjamin, 8956 170th ave, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.

Vicki's life was a testament to the power of love, the joy in the ordinary, and the beauty of family. She touched many lives, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. We invite everyone who knew Vicki to share their memories and upload photos on the memorial page. Your stories and pictures will help us all remember the love, laughter, and warmth that Vicki brought into our lives. 🕊️

🕊️ Angela “Angie” Sales Rush was a proud registered nurse who loved her work and the people she cared for. Nursing wasn’t just a job for her — it was her calling. She had a heart for people who were struggling and always found a way to lift the heaviness in a room with humor, compassion, and grit.

She was sharp as a tack, fiercely intelligent, and had a wicked sense of humor. She told the truth unflinchingly, but always with heart. Angie was a master storyteller and a gifted teacher — whether she was sharing a wild nursing story, teaching a hard-earned life lesson, or making you laugh until your stomach hurt, she left an impression.
She loved her children more than anything and always said she knew how to make “the smartest, best-looking kids.” She was proud of them in every way, and her love for them was constant, even through hard times.

Angie’s life wasn’t an easy one, but she met it head-on — persistent, passionate, and full of fight. She didn’t know a stranger. In the darkest times, Angie was the light people knew they could always find — steady, kind, and honest, even when the truth hurt.
Those who knew her remember her as tough on the outside, but deeply tender inside. She carried both scars and laughter in her voice — that big, contagious laugh that could fill a room and make everyone stop to see what was so funny. She was real in every sense of the word — flawed, loving, brilliant, and brave.

Angie is survived by her husband, John Sales; her children, Krista Tedrow, Adam Miller, Phillip Miller, and Ashton Sales; her brother, Zack Thompson; her uncle, Calvin Rush; her beloved granddaughter, Amelia Tedrow; and her grandmother, Fran Pyle. She leaves behind a large circle of family, friends, and colleagues who will never forget her warmth, wit, and strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen (Pyle) Thompson and Michael “Mike” Rush.

Her story is one of resilience and rediscovery. Angie found her way back to herself time and again, choosing hope when life gave her every reason not to. Her laugh, her lessons, and her light live on in her children, her family, her friends, and everyone lucky enough to have been part of her story. 🕊️

Angela was born on June 14th, 1971 and passed away on November 9th, 2025 at the age of 54

🕊️ Karen Diane Martin Arter, a remarkable woman of strength, grace, and boundless love, took her leave of this world on November 7, 2025. Karen, born in Centerville, IA on October 9, 1951, spent her 74 years living a life that was richly woven with love, family ties, and countless moments of joy and laughter.

Karen was a woman of immense character and resilience. Her life was a testament to the words of Maya Angelou, "I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it." Living in Plano, Iowa, she embraced the beauty of the world around her and made it her mission to spread joy wherever she went. Karen was a devoted mother who found her greatest joy in raising her children: Justin, Jason, and Jaime Arter. She also shared a special bond with her siblings, Kenny Martin, Kathy Shinn, and her sister-in-law, Rita Martin, and brother-in-law, Wayne Shinn. Her love for them was pure and unconditional, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire them.

Karen was predeceased by her beloved parents, Bruce and Florence Martin. Their love and values were instilled deeply within Karen, shaping her into the remarkable woman she was. Her life was a beautiful journey that touched the lives of those around her. She was a beacon of light in every storm, a safe harbor for those in need, and her memory will forever be a comforting presence in the hearts of her family and friends.

In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Karen's love, her spirit, and her memories have become a part of all who knew her, and they will forever carry her warmth in their hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Brushy Community Center, 12790 Hwy S70, Plano, Iowa 52581. Memorials may be directed to the family.

We invite you to share your fond memories of Karen and upload cherished photos to her memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a lasting tribute to a life beautifully lived.🕊️
