ARBs
- Includes meds that end in -artan such losartan and valsartan
Uses
- High blood pressure and heart failure majority of the time
What they do
- They lower blood pressure by blocking a certain hormone in the heart to allow blood vessels to relax
What the person taking it should know
- Avoid extra potassium from supplements and salts replacing sodium with potassium
- Report pregnancy immediately if on there medication as well as attempting to avoid pregnancy while taking these medications
Side effects
- Wanting to throw up, high potassium levels, feeling tired or weak (this is very common when on this medication and standing up too quickly)
- These are some of the side effects but is not an all inclusive of all side effects remember drugs effect everybody differently based on their body if you have specific questions about this medication or are currently taking it and wondering about certain side effects reach out to me and we can go through a thorough consultation
When to not or stop taking
- Angioedema: a very serious rash that causes inflammation in face stop taking medication immediately and consult medical provider immediately if this occurs
- Had side effects with ACE’s (drugs that end in -pril)
- Using aliskiren at same time!
- Other reasons could include kidney issues but sometimes they could help more then they hurt we rely on doctors to make this call!

What is Lisinopril?

Lisinopril is a commonly prescribed medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. It belongs to a class of drugs called ACE inhibitors (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors). By relaxing blood vessels, Lisinopril helps improve blood flow, reducing strain on the heart and lowering blood pressure.

Why lisinopril?
• Treats High Blood Pressure
• Treats Heart Failure
• Prevents kidney damage
• Aids in recovery after a heart attack

How to Take it:
• Once a day or as prescribed by Doctor
• Attempt to take it at same time everyday.

Important Notes:
• Stay hydrated
• Avoid excessive potassium intake
• Watch for side effects like dizziness, dry cough, or fatigue. Watch for swelling in face this a serious side effect that must be reported to pharmacist and Dr!
