Verbal abuse is still abuse. As a survivor or domestic violence, just know, the bruises from physical abuse heal much more quickly than the mental anguish from the verbal abuse. Be kind to everyone you meet.

This is something we all need to think about.

If your abuser violated you in private but was lovely in public, anger management was not the issue. They were able to control their anger when there were potential witnesses. Read that again and let it sink in. People with real anger problems lose control in every setting — they explode at work, in front of friends, in public spaces, with strangers. But your abuser didn’t do that, did they? They chose when, where, and who to target. They knew how to hold it together when their reputation was on the line, when eyes were on them, when consequences could follow. That’s not lack of control — that’s proof of control.

Abuse behind closed doors isn’t an accident. It’s strategic. It’s a way for them to protect their image while destroying you in silence. It leaves you feeling invisible, doubting yourself, and wondering if anyone would even believe you. That’s the design. They want the world to see them as the “good one” while painting you as dramatic, unstable, or too sensitive.

So, please understand — you weren’t dealing with someone who “couldn’t help it.” You were dealing with someone who chose to hurt you when no one else could see. That distinction matters, because it strips away the excuses and shows the truth: what you endured was deliberate, intentional abuse, not a momentary lapse of control.

The sooner you can internalize that truth, the sooner you’ll stop carrying their guilt as your own. None of this was your fault. They knew what they were doing. And you deserve peace, safety, and healing away from them.

It is Thrifty Thursday, so with that in mind, we often get some amazing food donations and have 10-12 adults plus several kids at any given point. Amazingly enough, we do not have any roasters!

So, helping us be thrifty, if anyone has laying around or would like to buy a couple of roasters, that would make it so much easier to cook for a group at times! let us know if you would like to help!
