Our Story
Our story began in the small town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was here that our community was founded. Each individual comes from a different background, with a different set of life skills and experiences, but had one thing in common. The desire to learn. It was from the hunger to learn Chinese Medicine that our community grew. We were introduced to a specific lineage of Chinese medicine by a trusted mentor and our perspective on medicine was never the same.
This lineage is generally termed âClassical Chinese Medicineâ. This is an extremely effective medical system whose texts originated during Chinaâs Warring States and Han Dynasty. Due to many cultural changes in China, an understanding of these classical texts was largely lost. Through the transmission of Master teachers, the lineage remains alive and we have been lucky enough to receive it.
Classical Chinese medicine in practice is rooted in these classic teachings and utilizes complex channel systems which address every level of the body. An understanding of the complement channels allows the practitioner to create extremely specific acupuncture treatments tailored to the individual. It is with these channels we are able to treat particularly challenging disease states.
Among many differences, a key clinical difference between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Classical Chinese Medicine is the use of these additional channel systems. TCM primarily uses the 12 Primary Meridians which are indeed important, however they are just part of the whole picture. In CCM we use Sinew meridians, Luo meridians, Divergent meridians, and Extraordinary meridians. It is with an understanding of all these channel systems that the entire landscape of the individual is addressed.
