Dr. Xochitl Calderón is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan. Originally from Puerto Rico, she has lived in New Mexico since 2018 and is proud to serve the local community.
She completed her nursing education at Central New Mexico Community College and the University of New Mexico, and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from New Mexico State University in August 2025.
Dr. Xochitl treats a wide range of mental health conditions, with a special interest in supporting individuals living with psychotic disorders and/or Spanish Speaking. She has expertise in evidence-based treatments, including long-acting injectable antipsychotics and clozapine, to promote medication adherence and improve quality of life.
Understanding that mental health care can feel overwhelming, Dr. Xochitl takes an empathetic and collaborative approach to treatment. She works closely with patients and their loved ones to explain treatment options, support medication adherence, and develop care plans that feel manageable, respectful, and empowering.
She provides both medication management and psychotherapy and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Outside of work, Dr. Xochitl enjoys baking, birdwatching, gardening, paddleboarding, and spending time with her four beloved pets—including a three-legged cat, a three-legged guinea pig, and two Pembroke Welsh corgis who have all four legs.
