Every family I support holds a special place in my heart… but sometimes they give me a title I didn’t expect.

My February client welcomed their baby boy on the 18th! At our postpartum visit, dad told me I’m officially baby’s “honorary grandma”! And honestly? I’ll take it. 🥹

Supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and those early postpartum days creates bonds that are hard to put into words. I’m so grateful to walk alongside families during such a sacred season of life.

My Saturday afternoon dates with this little guy have come to an end! I’ve been with this family since October of 2024 and have traveled a beautiful journey with them. They hired me as their birth doula and kept me into their postpartum season. There are no words to express the bond that’s been built with this family and saying goodbye was so bitter sweet. What an honor to watch my client grow in her confidence as a mom! This definitely is not “goodbye” but “see you for coffee soon”! I’ve definitely left part of my heart in this home! ☺️👶🏻💙

Spent the afternoon snuggling this sweet postpartum babe, and my heart is so full. 💙
I’ve been here since the moment he entered the world, and watching him grow, stretching, cooing, settling into his family never stops feeling sacred.
This is one of the greatest honors of postpartum work: continuity, trust, and being a familiar presence in such tender days.

BIRTH ISN’T BROKEN!
And it doesn’t automatically need fixing.

Labor is a physiological process, guided by hormones that work best when the birthing person feels safe, supported, and un-rushed.

When we jump in too early with interventions, we can accidentally interrupt that natural flow, sometimes making labor longer, harder, or more painful.

That doesn’t mean interventions are bad. Sometimes they’re truly needed and life-saving. But physiological birth deserves space first.

Things that support the body doing what it already knows how to do:
✨ Moving freely
✨ Feeling calm and respected
✨ Trusting your body’s timing
✨ Support instead of pressure

Birth works best when we stop trying to control it and start supporting it. ❤️

This year stretched me, grounded me, and affirmed my calling. I supported six births, walked alongside four postpartum families (including two that began as birth clients), completed my placenta encapsulation certification, and became approved to accept Medicaid; a meaningful step toward accessible support.

And the work continues! 2026 is already in motion, with a February client signed and a May client pending. I’m endlessly grateful for the families who welcomed me into their journey, and I’m excited for what’s ahead ❤️ soothingpresencebirthservices.com #2026
