🧸UNM Carino Early Childhood Toy Library
- Carino Toy Lending Library is a joint venture between UNM and CNM, with the help of the W.K Kellog Foundation, offering thousands of educational toys, materials, books, games, and videos for parents to check out for free.
🐳 Splash/Spray Pads
- Cesar Chavez Spray Pad, North Domingo Baca Spray Pad, Alamosa Spray Pad, Wells Park Spray Pad, and Westgate Spray Pad are FREE to enjoy
🎬Movies In The Park
- Every Friday night from June 6th to July 25th, starting at 8:30pm (sundown), Kirtland Park is hosting a free movie night!
📙Public Libraries
- Check out your local library for free events including music, art, crafts, and movie nights
🦆 Tingley Beach
- With three fishing ponds, a playground, and plenty of space to enjoy a picnic, Tingley Beach is a perfect place to take your family on a warm summer day. Take oats, corn, or seeds to feed the hundreds of ducks waddling around!

Wrapping up Occupational Therapy Month with an OT favorite; Cross Crawls! 🤩

Cross crawls encourage crossing midline, which strengthens the neural connection between the left and right hemispheres of the brain (aka bilateral integration). The brain functions better as a team to do things like gross and fine motor coordination to higher level skills like academics and emotional regulation. 🧠

Specifically, the left hemisphere processes things like language and logic while the right hemisphere processes things like emotions and creativity. 🩷

Midline crossing activities like cross crawls can be used to warm up the body AND brain before doing higher level skills, such as coloring or writing. 🖌🖍

Smiles, sunshine, and sweet sibling bonding. 😁☀️

What it actually looks like:
One kid living his best life, one in a sensory shock spiral, and one baby who's just here for the ride. 🤩😭😊

That’s sensory overload in action — too much sound, light, touch, or just too much everything at once.

And guess what? This is totally normal, especially for young kids (and especially those with sensory sensitivities).
