At NMHCA/NMCAL, we recognize the incredible dedication, compassion, and skill it takes to care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. This week – Alzheimer’s & Dementia Staff Education Week – we want to shine a spotlight on the caregivers, team members, and long-term care professionals and advocates who show up with patience, heart, and expertise every single day.

Providing quality, person-centered care starts with education, and we are proud to support our members with workshops and trainings designed to expand knowledge, sharpen skills, and foster confidence when caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Our educational opportunities help teams deliver safer, more compassionate care, because every person deserves dignity, respect, and understanding.

NMHCA/NMCAL members spent valuable time engaging with New Mexico lawmakers to highlight the growing need for increased funding for nursing and rehabilitation centers serving individuals with behavioral health needs. As more patients in our centers are living with mental illness, substance use disorders, or a combination of both, the demand for resources and support continues to rise. Ensuring our patients receive quality care, and that our dedicated staff have the tools they need, remains a top priority. We are thankful for our committed members and the NMHCA/NMCAL team who continue to advocate for New Mexico’s centers, patients, and caregivers. Your leadership and dedication help move our industry forward!
