💜 One umbrella. One community. One purpose.

The campaign brings together Spectrum Retirement senior living communities to raise Alzheimer’s awareness through art. Each Artbrella is hand-crafted by residents and supports Alzheimer's Association in their mission to end Alzheimer’s.

Palmilla Senior Living created our umbrella, inspired by New Mexico’s iconic International Balloon Fiesta and the vibrant culture that fills the skies during this annual celebration. Designed in the shape of a hot air balloon, each panel features symbolic imagery that reflects the spirit, color, and traditions of our beautiful state.

🎨 This collaborative masterpiece was brought to life by resident Melba Bushmire (painted two panels), resident Donna Patterson (mosaic), DEP Megan Williamson (painted and collaged two panels), and resident Lou Gonzales (sewed all the panels together).

Here’s your first look at our Artbrella in progress—and it’s already soaring! 🎨☂️ Inspired by our recent visit to the Albuquerque Balloon Museum, our residents are creating a one-of-a-kind balloon-themed Artbrella that captures the wonder of the skies.

What makes it extra special? We’re using authentic hot air balloon fabric that actually flew in the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! 🎈 One of our residents’ adult children generously donated a retired balloon from their family-owned balloon company to help us bring our vision to life.

Stay tuned to watch this colorful masterpiece take shape—all part of our initiative to raise awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Each umbrella is a canvas of hope—designed by our residents, families, and teams to honor memories, raise awareness, and reflect the spirit of their community. These stunning Artbrellas will be proudly showcased at your local Walk to End Alzheimer’s® and other Spectrum fundraising events.

This week, our Memory Care group set off on an aquatic adventure to the Albuquerque BioPark Aquarium! With Lindsay from Life Enrichment and Azul from our care team leading the way, residents got up close with ocean wonders and shared lots of laughs along the way.
