Check out this cool technology from Los Alamos Labs that was presented at this year's Innovate New Mexico Showcase on March, 3rd 2020! Hertz Bio is is a benchtop miniature beating heart that predicts the effects of drugs on the human heart. This system offers a better and more humane application than animal testing and has the potential to revolutionize the drug development world by replacing animal models. Los Alamos’ unique engineering and biological capabilities when combined with human cells have resulted in a model system that is superior to current “organ on a chip” models. Hertz Bio offers a new testing method that gives critical information earlier in the drug development pipeline, saving drug companies billions of dollars in the lengthy drug discovery process.
