Cueing with Clarity
March 13th-15th
Have you ever received a cue from your teacher that completely changed your experience in a posture—for the better? Maybe that cue even altered how you move and live in your body from day to day. Such is the powerful possibility of cueing.
If you’ve ever tried to guide someone into and out of a posture, you know it’s not as easy as it seems! In this workshop, we’ll explore how to lead students into a posture using clear, accessible language; how to help them refine their alignment through words, gesture, and skillful touch; and how to transition them out of a posture and into the next with clarity and ease—for both you and them. Using the core sequence and one another as students, we’ll uncover the deceptively simple art of guiding yoga asana.
This course is designed for teachers and teachers-in-training.
March, 13th-15th
Friday Night, March 13th: 6-8pm (FREE PUBLIC TALK and Potluck)
How can we cue in alignment with the ethics of yoga—non-harming, honesty, and integrity? What else is being communicated through our tone, our posture, our touch, and the words we choose? What subconscious expectations or cultural values might we be expressing? In what ways might we be projecting our own assumptions onto other bodies?
