A lot of new changes in these first 3 months of 2015!

In addition to the new office space, I am excited to have the skills of Jennifer Bransford who will be the office administrator for ILTS.

Rachel Nelson, MOTR/L and Melissa Daniels, MOTR/L have also jointed the team to provide occupational therapy. I am beyond thankful for their contributions over the last month and am excited to share their skills with those we serve. Welcome to the team!

It is Occupational Therapy month!

The core of occupational therapy is not well understood unless you have experienced the fear of not being able to live your life. OT provides a new way of doing when the old way is no longer possible.

Honored to be part of a profession who work to support our veterans when they return home. Love OT.

Rotator Cuff Injury
Scapula weakness leads to tendinitis, tendinitis leads to impingement and impingement leads to tears. Protect your shoulder if you are experiencing pain. Daily activities which can aggravate this type of shoulder pain include pouring coffee from a pitcher, lifting a heavy item with a straight arm above shoulder height and sleeping with your arms over your head. Targeted therapy can teach you how to modify and strengthen weak scapula muscles to prevent worsening of pain symptoms.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Symptoms usually include pain when attempting to grasp or hold an object. Tingling or numbness in the middle three fingers may also cause difficulty sleeping. A custom splint can allow the flexor tendons rest in an optimal position, prevent further aggravation to the median nerve and possibly help you avoid surgery.
