Every superhero has an origin story, and sometimes it starts with a little extra support. Our tiniest heroes are SO STRONG, and behind every cape is a family working hard to help their child thrive.

Swipe to see how Alta Mira’s Early Intervention team supports families every step of the way! ➡️

You know that pile of clothes you’ve been meaning to go through?
It can do more than free up closet space! It can help provide resources and support to families in New Mexico!
We’re collecting gently used items to fund support, trainings, and advocacy for New Mexico families of children with disabilities.

Nonprofit work isn’t always easy—but it’s always worth it.

This month, we invited our staff to share their “WHY” on our bulletin board. Reading the many reasons behind the work we do was a powerful reminder of the purpose that drives us every day.

But this work has never been about us, and it never will be. As Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to thank the participants and families we serve for trusting Alta Mira with your care. It’s truly an honor to be part of your story. 💜

The New Mexico Developmental Disabilities Council is looking for new Council members! The council engages in advocacy, capacity building, and systems change activities to work toward:

⭐️ a comprehensive system of community services

⭐️ individualized supports and other forms of assistance that are consumer- and family-centered and enable individuals with developmental disabilities to exercise self-determination & be independent, productive, and included in all aspects of community life.

The Council is looking for people with developmental disabilities and family members who are interested in serving on the Council itself. At least 60% of the Council’s members must be from those two groups, and several seats are currently open for new appointments. Members are appointed by the governor.

If you’re interested in serving on the Council, here’s the link to apply through Gov. Lujan Grisham’s Boards & Commissions Appointment Request page: https://www.governor.state.nm.us/apply/boards-and-commissions/new-mexico-boards-commissions-request-for-appointment/. You’ll be asked to provide information about yourself and a brief explanation of why you’re interested in serving on the Council.

If you have questions, contact the DDC’s Acting Director, Jennifer Sanchez, at Jennifer.Sanchez@ddc.nm.gov.
