The New Mexico Developmental Disabilities Council is looking for new Council members! The council engages in advocacy, capacity building, and systems change activities to work toward:
⭐️ a comprehensive system of community services
⭐️ individualized supports and other forms of assistance that are consumer- and family-centered and enable individuals with developmental disabilities to exercise self-determination & be independent, productive, and included in all aspects of community life.
The Council is looking for people with developmental disabilities and family members who are interested in serving on the Council itself. At least 60% of the Council’s members must be from those two groups, and several seats are currently open for new appointments. Members are appointed by the governor.
If you’re interested in serving on the Council, here’s the link to apply through Gov. Lujan Grisham’s Boards & Commissions Appointment Request page: https://www.governor.state.nm.us/apply/boards-and-commissions/new-mexico-boards-commissions-request-for-appointment/. You’ll be asked to provide information about yourself and a brief explanation of why you’re interested in serving on the Council.
