In collaboration with the Office of Peer Recovery and Engagement, the National Latino Behavioral Health Association proudly announces a Facebook LIVE series. An interactive 60 minute webcast with special guests - Ivette Torres and Elise Padilla, peer support and recovery experts who will discuss helpful tips and positive steps on improving continuum of care and recovery efforts.

President - New Mexico Women’s Re-Entry Center
Elise Padilla, MSW, MBA, CPSW is an advocate for breaking down the barriers and stigma around mental health and substance use issues. Professionally, Elise aids in the creation of supportive mental health programs and speaking to the strength of peer support. Personally, she invests in the development of minority leadership in her community and strengthening behavioral health services in New Mexico as a peer in recovery. Elise is the President of the New Mexico Women’s Re-Entry Center and Treasurer of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association of New Mexico.
Ivette Torres, M.Ed, MS
Former Associate Director - Center for Substance Abuse Treatment
Ivette Torres is the former Associate Director for Consumer Affairs at the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). During her 20-year career at CSAT Ms. Torres led the team responsible for development of public health education and social marketing efforts including the lead role for the coordination of the National Recovery Month observance held each September nationwide.

The Josie Torralba Romero (JTR) Scholarship Fund provides academic scholarships to Latino students interested in pursuing a college degree in mental health related academic areas. Scholarships are awarded for one year of academic study.
