For over three decades, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) has served our community as the only health care organization in Central New Mexico dedicated exclusively to providing services to homeless people. AHCH provides critical services to over 7,000 men, women and children every year. By addressing the health-related causes of homelessness, AHCH makes it possible for people to find solutions to end their homelessness.

Stephen Finkenauer is a lifelong artist who has been creating for more than 60 years. Stephen has been part of ArtStreet since its very first day over 30 years ago, finding creative refuge and purpose through the community.

His work is inspired by the freedom and energy of horses and the vivid colors of the Southwestern landscape. He often paints different versions of the same scene—shifting weather, changing horses, and varied light—capturing the feeling of movement and immersion. You can see and purchase some of his work at the Closing Reception of the Juan Tabo Library Art Show on August 15th from 3-5PM.

This week's Featured Artist: Crystal Collins (Cryss Chaos) is a mixed-media artist based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was born and raised.

For Crystal, art is both personal and powerful: “It brings me joy and a sense of freedom,” she says. “We can use art to speak out against the wrongs we see—even if we can’t change them ourselves.” As a disabled woman, she sees her art as a way to amplify her voice beyond individual limits and connect with others.

Above all, Crystal wants others to know that ArtStreet is a creative home for everyone: “It’s not just for people experiencing homelessness—it’s for the whole community. Art has been healing for me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.”

Call your House Representative TODAY and Say NO to the Federal Budget Bill. This bill is bad for you and bad for New Mexico!

Congress is voting on a bill that would:

🚨 Cut $3.5 trillion from Medicaid
🚫 Kick 16 million+ off health care
🍽️ Slash SNAP & housing assistance
💰 Add $4.6 trillion to the deficit
🏚️ Push families into homelessness
💣 Give billions to ICE & defense contractors
🌎 Raise your electric bill by repealing clean energy credits

👉 This bill hurts New Mexicans—especially rural, Indigenous, and low-income communities.

📞 Get in touch with your Rep, either email them with this link https://bit.ly/3ZYsbV3 or call 202-224-3121 and say: VOTE NO on the Budget Bill!
We need a budget that cares for people, not billionaires.

AHCH programs and policies are grounded in evidence-based principles of trauma-informed care, dignity, and personal choice. Health Care and Housing is a human right--nobody should be denied the care they need.
LGBTQ+ youth are one of the most vulnerable demographics for homelessness, discrimination, and violence--with transgender individuals experiencing even higher rates of gender-based violence and discrimination in both housing and health care systems.
