Pain is a unique construct. Every person is unique and so is the pain they experience. There is no control center for pain. You as a person experience is uniquely to your own self. This should also translate to how practitioners treat their clients. There is no one size fits all when it comes to client treatment, if you feel your practitioner is giving you the same treatment over and over and over, ask yourself, “are they really treating the problem I came in for TODAY?” If the answer seems foggy or you’re not sure, ask them! “How does this technique or today’s sessions relate to what I’m experiencing? Can you tell me how this works?” A skilled therapist will give you short, concise and non overcomplicated answers that doesn’t involve too much medical lingo. You need to understand your body and we should be aware of how to do that. As the client feel empowered to challenge your therapists clinical reasonings for practice. If this creates friction, then maybe it’s time to look for the right fit for you. You’re paying for experience and knowledge and professionalism, otherwise, why are you seeking interventions in the first place? Food for thought. Enjoy your Monday folks!

Update from Andruw: “Hi everyone! After 8 weeks, we’re finished with term 1! Two As and Two Bs! Which is amazing for this guy who’s been out of school almost 10 years. Made a ton of friends along the way! Enjoyed my spring break, and now it’s time to get back into the next semester! This will be a hundred times harder, but I’m excited to be learning and using my experiences working with all of you into every situation.
