Hospice of New Mexico

Hospice of New Mexico Hospice of New Mexico provides specialized care to patients considered to be nearing end of life and We have been caring for Albuquerque residents since 2004.

Hospice of New Mexico is a locally physician owned hospice that provides specialized care to people living with terminal illness while giving support to their loved ones. Our Physicians are Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative care. Hospice of New Mexico uses an interdisciplinary team approach to providing care. We use the word “interdisciplinary” to indicate that each of us brings a different expertise, yet we all focus together on the issues that matter to you. Hospice provides comprehensive care when a cure is no longer the goal. The emphasis of hospice care is on quality of life, and on maximizing comfort as the illness takes its natural course. Hospice care is holistic, delivered by a team of professionals and trained volunteers. It is designed to address the physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and psychological issues that accompany end of life. We focus on controlling distressing symptoms and address other concerns the patient or family may have.

World Kindness Day reminds us of the extraordinary power of even the smallest gestures. A kind word, a gentle touch, or a listening ear can bring comfort in life’s hardest moments. In hospice care, kindness is at the heart of everything we do, from easing patients’ pain to sitting with families in their grief. Today, we celebrate the everyday acts of compassion that make the world a little brighter for those who need it most.

On Veterans’ Day, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of our nation’s heroes. We are especially humbled to care for Veterans in hospice, offering programs designed to recognize their unique needs and honor their service, including pinning ceremonies, Quilt of Valor presentations, and Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer visits. To all Veterans, thank you for your selflessness and for protecting the freedom we cherish.

It’s Nurse Practitioner Week, and we are proud to recognize the vital role our NPs play in providing expert, compassionate care. Nurse Practitioners bring advanced clinical knowledge and a dedication to helping patients live with dignity and comfort. In hospice, their care extends beyond managing symptoms; they support families, offer guidance in decision making, and provide reassurance during uncertain times.

Thank you to our incredible NP’s who are true leaders in patient-centered care. Share a picture in the comments of a nurse practitioner or your nurse practitioner celebrations.

Today, we celebrate International Volunteer Managers Day and recognize the incredible work of our Volunteer Coordinators, whose heart for service inspires others to give back in meaningful ways.

This year’s theme: Be BOLD. Make a Change. Reminds us that meaningful change often begins when we step outside our comfort zones. Our Volunteer Coordinators lead with courage, compassion, and creativity, helping volunteers find purpose and connection in serving our patients and families.

Thank you for being a bold leader and making a difference every single day! If you are interested in working alongside these awesome Volunteer Coordinators, visit: https://hospiceofnewmexico.com/volunteers.php.

November marks National Care at Home Month, a time to recognize the incredible work being done to bring comfort, dignity, and support into the homes of patients and families. Hospice and palliative care are more than medical support; it is emotional, spiritual, and family-centered care that meets people where they are, helping them make the most of every day. We come to you wherever you call home, including private residences, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

Throughout this month, we will highlight the people, programs, and resources that make care at home possible and celebrate the compassion that touches lives in the most meaningful way.
