Adults and older children get vitamin K from food such as green, leafy vegetables, meat, dairy, and eggs. The healthy bacteria in our intestines, which make up our microbiome, also produce some vitamin K. But babies need the vitamin K shot because their bodies don’t produce enough at birth to protect them from serious bleeding, known as vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB).

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a public health alert for certain frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets sold nationwide that may contain unsafe levels of lead.

The affected product is:
• Great Value Fully Cooked Dino-Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets
• 29 oz bag
• Best by date: Feb. 10, 2027
• Lot code: 0416DPO1215

⚠️ While the product is no longer in stores, it may still be in home freezers. Health officials are urging families not to consume it and to throw it away or return it for a refund.

Lead exposure can be especially harmful to young children, potentially affecting brain development and overall health.
