Why does Dr. Kerley recommend using ice 🧊 therapy?

🧊Ice therapy helps numb pain, constrict blood vessels to reduce swelling, and can slow down cellular metabolism, which can protect injured tissues and help calm the body's immediate inflammatory response.

🧊Dr. Kerley will always recommend a patient use ice FIRST, but especially when dealing with acute injuries, tendinitis, headaches or migraines. We start with cold therapy as it limits inflammation, and heat may make an injured area feel worse.

Have you ever wondered, "Why would a chiropractor need to take x-rays"? 🤔 We sometimes get asked this question.

Here are Dr. Kerley's top 3️⃣ reasons why he may need to take x-rays before treating a patient:

1. To Rule Out Serious Conditions:
X-rays allow the doctor to look for underlying problems, such as fractures or abnormal growths, that could make spinal adjustments unsafe or require a referral to another provider.

2. To Understand Your Spinal Alignment and Structure:
X-rays show how your spine and joints are positioned. X-rays can show the doctor abnormal curves, joint degeneration or disc changes, and misalignments that may be contributing to pain or reduced mobility.

3. We don't do any guesswork when it comes to your health. 🩵

Dr. Kerley offers dry needling therapy.

❓ What is Dry Needling❓
It is a treatment that involves the insertion of non-hypodermic (solid) needles into the muscle or fascia below the skin. "Dry" refers to the fact that there is no medication being injected through the needle.

The goals of dry needling may differ from patient to patient, but the general purpose includes:
🔸pain relief associated with joints, muscles, and nerves
🔸improvement of body's function and ability to move correctly and efficiently
🔸reduction of trigger points
🔸the speeding up of your body's own healing process after an injury
🔸pain management in chronic conditions (that have not responded adequately to other treatments)
🔸the relief of muscle tightness

Did you know???

Every Tuesday evening our waiting room turns into a classroom for New Patient Orientation Class, taught by Dr. Kerley.

POC, as we like to call it, provides an extended period of time for Dr. Kerley to meet with new and existing patients to talk about health; what it is and where to find it. He discusses other topics in depth that he doesn’t have time to cover in a regular, shorter office visit. He also goes into greater detail on how not to undo what he’s correcting in the clinic with chiropractic adjustments.
