Tilden Memory Care & Assisted Living is a boutique 8-bed residential assisted living and memory care (dementia, Alzheimer's) residence nestled at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Alexandria, Virginia. We offer exceptional care in a comfortable, familiar setting built specifically around the needs and desires of our residents. Being one of the only luxury single-story homes in the DC metro area to offer fully private bedroom suites, we can provide a level of care and safety unmatched by other smaller facilities. Our competent staff, comprised of Certified Nursing Assistants, Registered Medication Aides, and a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse take care of everything; the home is staffed at all times and strictly adheres to a very high caregiver to resident ratio.

This is a great example of person-centered care in action. This morning's breakfast included waffles, scrambled eggs, fresh cantaloupe, and blueberry muffins. One of our residents has Parkinson's and is unable to use utensils due to tremors. Our staff cut their food into bite-sized pieces to allow them to feed themselves, helping them retain independence and dignity.

Tilden Angel Angie is doing some one-on-one exercise with a resident. Smaller communities like Tilden allow for more individualized engagement.

The residents are helping make some holiday bingos cards for our bingo game later this afternoon. We get higher engagement by framing the activity as a request for help, as seniors want to still feel useful and able to make a positive contribution. When it comes to activities and engagement, "Can you help me XYZ?" goes a lot farther than "Do you want to XYZ?".
