Senior Services of Alexandria is honored to present the 2026 Community Leadership Award to Donna Shaw. Inspired by a lifelong commitment to kindness and service, Donna has dedicated her professional career and personal time to enhancing the lives of others. During her eighteen years as Administrator of Woodbine Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, her visionary leadership earned national recognition and transformed the facility into a model of excellence for skilled nursing and memory care. Beyond her professional achievements, Donna has been a steadfast advocate for our organization, serving on our board and personally volunteering alongside her husband, Michael. She was also instrumental in the creation of our Caring Connections program, a vital initiative that ensures seniors transitioning home from medical care receive the support and nourishment they need. We are privileged to honor Donna for her compassionate heart and her unwavering dedication to the dignity and health of Alexandria’s seniors.

Thank you so much for acknowledging our team members as Volunteers of the Week for Meals on Wheels! We are happy to give back to our community during the holiday season!

This week, we shine our Volunteer Spotlight on two exceptional individuals from Alexandria Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center: LaTosha May, Director of Life Enrichment, and Aminata Senesie, Life Enrichment Assistant! These dedicated partners generously volunteer their time to deliver Meals on Wheels, ensuring our homebound seniors receive a nutritious meal and a valuable friendly visit. Their service is especially impactful as it strengthens our shared mission through the Caring Connection program, an initiative where Alexandria Rehabilitation partners with us to provide Alexandria residents with one week of complimentary Meals on Wheels and a well-check by SSA following a stay in their care. Their commitment demonstrates the true spirit of community collaboration, ensuring safe transitions and continued successful recovery for our older adults.
