✨ Ask a Question Thursday ✨

Sometimes, nothing soothes the soul quite like a favorite meal. Food is tied to so many of our best memories, offering comfort and a taste of home when we need it most.

So, let's celebrate our amazing local spots! We want to know: What Alexandria or Cenla-area restaurant serves a dish that feels like a hug in a bowl?

Whether it's a hearty gumbo, a cheesy pasta, or the best darn poboy you've ever had, we want to hear about it!

Drop the restaurant name and the dish in the comments below. You might just give someone a great idea for their next meal! 👇

✨ Introducing: Reach Out Wednesday! ✨

At Heart of Hospice, we know that compassionate care extends beyond our walls and into the very fabric of our community. Central Louisiana is filled with incredible organizations doing vital work, and we want to help shine a light on them!

That's why we're launching Reach Out Wednesday—a new weekly series dedicated to featuring the local resources, non-profits, and support groups that make our community stronger.

Are you part of a local organization making a difference? We want to feature you!

We are looking to connect with:
• Non-Profits
• Senior Centers & Aging Services
• Support Groups (grief, illness, caregiver, etc.)
• Food Pantries & Meal Services
• Veterans' Organizations
• And any other group dedicated to serving our community!

If you would like your organization to be featured in a future "Reach Out Wednesday" spotlight, here's how to connect with us:

👇 Comment below! Tell us about your organization or tag a local group you admire.
📞 Give us a call! Contact our wonderful Director of Business Development, April Lemoine, directly at 318.290.0183 to discuss a feature.

Let's work together to weave a stronger network of support and make sure everyone in our community knows where to turn for help. We can't wait to connect with you!

✨ Caregiver Corner ✨

To the caregiver who feels like they haven't stopped all day: We see you.

Caregiver Corner will be spilling the tea every Tuesday on how to take can care of YOU, the caregiver. ☕

When you can't take a long break, a "5-Minute Reset" can make a world of difference. It’s not a luxury; it’s a necessity for your well-being. Here are a few ideas:

❤️ Step outside and feel the sun or breeze on your face.
🎶 Put on headphones and listen to ONE favorite, uplifting song.
🧘 Close your eyes and take 10 slow, deep breaths.
💪 Stand up and stretch your arms toward the ceiling.

These small moments can help clear your head and calm your nervous system, allowing you to continue your incredible work.

What's your go-to method for a quick reset during a busy day? Share your ideas in the comments—you might help another caregiver!

❤️ Memorable Moment Monday ❤️

At Heart of Hospice, care is measured in more than just medicine. It's measured in moments of connection, peace, and dignity.

This week, we want to share a truly memorable moment.

Our team had the privilege of carrying out a last wish for our patient. This patient didn't have any family and asked that our team be the "family" at their funeral. Our team jumped in to ensure the final wishes were met. This patient had a special request of what outfit they wanted and also that once they were in this outfit, they wanted their casket closed and for no one to see them. Our Spiritual Caregiver, DC Sills, officiated the service and our patient had peace that their final wishes were brought to fruition.

(Left to right) Thank you to our Sarah Marcotte- Bereavement Coordinator, Tim Foreman- Social Worker, DC Sills- Spiritual Caregiver, Jeannie Smith- Registered Nurse, and Samantha Newton- Home Health Aide, who worked together to ensure this patient's last wishes were honored.

It is in these small, profound moments that the true heart of hospice is found. It’s an honor to help our patients and their families create and cherish these memories.

Wishing you a week filled with your own memorable moments.

With warmth,
The Team at Heart of Hospice

Say hello to April Lemoine, our amazing Director of Business Development at Heart of Hospice!

April joined us in January 2020 as an Account Executive, diving into a new career in hospice right at the start of a pandemic – talk about a growth experience!

By August 2021, April's dedication and talent led her to step into her current role. Now, she's a vital support for our sales team, especially in the Alexandria area and surrounding communities, focusing on their growth and development, and also supporting our Palliative Care program. While she helps out across the state when needed, her main focus is right here, ensuring our team has the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.

When she's not empowering her team, April is a proud mom to a teen boy and has been happily married to her husband, Marcus, since 2011. In her spare time, she enjoys embroidery and diving into documentaries.

April is also our team's unofficial morale booster! She loves to lighten the mood with silly prizes from her "prize cart" and even has a large coloring page in her office. Hospice work can be heavy, so April seizes every opportunity to share a laugh or some "weirdness" with her teammates, making sure everyone feels supported and connected.

If you or a loved one could benefit from the supportive care of hospice, remember, you don't have to wait for a physician's order. Reach out to us directly! Call 844-464-0411 to learn how Heart of Hospice can make a difference. ❤️

Say hello to Casey Jenkins, one of our dedicated Account Executives at Heart of Hospice!

Casey's passion for hospice care began with a profound personal experience caring for her granny, which inspired her to join our team in February 2022

Casey is a fierce advocate for everyone needing hospice services, with a special heart for the underserved and unhoused communities. Her dream is to one day open a hospice house specifically for those experiencing homelessness—a testament to her deep commitment to compassionate care.

Outside of work, Casey is a very proud mama to two boys who are now grown men. You can often find her and her husband, Cody, enjoying the peace of nature, especially fishing in the waters of Toledo Bend.

You'll catch Casey educating and advocating in Vernon, Natchitoches, Allen, and Evangeline Parishes. If you or a loved one could benefit from the supportive care of hospice, remember, you don't have to wait for a physician's order. Reach out to us directly! Introducing Megan Fuqua: Your Heart of Hospice Community Educator! 👋

Say hello to Megan Fuqua, our incredible Account Executive here at Heart of Hospice! Megan is truly a Heart of Hospice "original," even before officially joining our team in March 2024. This July, Heart of Hospice is proud to recognize National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

This is a time dedicated to bringing awareness to the unique mental health challenges and struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face in the United States.

At Heart of Hospice, we understand that mental and emotional well-being are integral parts of the end-of-life journey for both our patients and their families. A person's cultural background, beliefs, and experiences profoundly shape how they cope with illness, grief, and loss.

We are committed to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care that respects and honors the unique journey of every individual. It's our promise to create a safe space for difficult conversations and to support the mental health of all members of our community.

Let's use this month to listen, learn, and support one another. Open conversations can break down stigmas and build stronger, healthier communities.

🌙 Meet the Dedicated Heart of Our After-Hours Care! 🌙

At Heart of Hospice, we understand that care needs don't follow a 9-to-5 schedule. That's why we're incredibly proud to introduce you to Luke Lawrence, our essential After Hours Admission Coordinator!

Luke plays a vital role in ensuring that Heart of Hospice meets our commitment to accepting and taking care of patients 365 days a year, 24/7. When families reach out to us during evenings, weekends, or holidays, Luke is often the compassionate and knowledgeable voice on the other end, guiding them through the initial steps of connecting with our care.

His dedication ensures that families receive timely support and that patient needs are addressed around the clock, providing peace of mind during vulnerable moments. Luke's commitment is key to upholding our promise of continuous, compassionate care.

Thank you, Luke, for your tireless work and for being such a crucial part of our mission to provide comfort and support whenever it's needed! ❤️
