Alexandria Football and Tioga Indians Football turned in two more strong performances during Week 4 of the high school football season to remain atop the Kick Cancer scoreboard. More importantly, our Rapides Parish high schools have now raised $1,000 for the American Cancer Society. And, congratulations to Holy Savior Menard Central High School for winning Thursday's night Squirrel Bowl against Buckeye. Good luck to all of our other schools in action tonight.

When every second mattered, the team at Rapides Regional Trauma Center was there for Pineville High junior, Jaxon Gaspard.

On July 4, Jaxon’s ATV accident left him unconscious with a skull fracture and bleeding on his brain. He was airlifted to Rapides Regional Trauma Center, where our physicians, nurses and colleagues moved quickly to provide lifesaving care and support for his family through one of the hardest days of their lives.

Today, Jaxon is back in school and making a full recovery. 🙌

His mom, Debbie, shared:

“He received the absolute BEST CARE at both the main hospital and Rapides Women’s and Children's Hospital. From the nurses, PAs, CNAs and food service, everyone went out of their way to ensure that not only he was taken care of, but that we were, too. We couldn’t be more thankful.”

Stories like Jaxon’s remind us why we do what we do: to give patients and families hope, healing and the best possible care, every single day. 💙

💗🦆 What an incredible day for our duck launch at our Quack for a Cure!

We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Seeing so many of our colleagues, survivors, families, and friends gathered together filled our hearts with hope and reminded us why this cause matters so deeply.

Every pink duck in the fountain represents love, courage, and the fight for a cure. đź’•

Thank you to everyone who joined us today—you made this launch not just special, but unforgettable. Together, we are stronger. Together, we quack for a cure.

👟Louisiana Christian University's Walktober is back, and Rapides Regional Medical Center is proud to help sponsor this great event that encourages our community to be active this fall.

Walkotber is a virtual fitness challenge and a fun way to stay active while connecting with friends, colleagues and the community.

“One of our favorite fitness challenges to offer the community each fall is Walktober. This will be our 4th year to offer the virtual challenge,” said Sonia Tinsley, chair of Health and Exercise Science at LCU. “The weather is beginning to cool off, so this is a great time of the year to get more active. Being more active benefits us in all areas of life – physically, socially, mentally, and the list goes on!”

Louisiana Christian University is holding a kickoff event on Oct. 1 at the Parrish Fuller Fitness Trail on its campus from 4 to 6 p.m. During this event, there will be a community walk, and at 5:30 p.m., a yoga session for beginners will be held. Those present who sign up for Walktober will receive a complimentary T-shirt. đź‘•

💜 September is NICU Awareness Month, and we’re grateful for our incredible colleagues who care for the tiniest patients with the biggest hearts.

In the NICU, even the tools are specially made—like the difference between a regular stethoscope and a preemie stethoscope, perfectly sized for the little hearts we care for each day. 👶💜

Thank you to our NICU team for the compassion, skill, and hope you bring to families.

Sometimes it’s the smallest details that remind us just how tiny and fragile our neonatal intensive care patients are. Take a look at the difference between a regular Band-Aid and the special preemie Band-Aids we use in the NICU—made small enough for the tiniest of patients.

September is NICU Awareness Month, and we’re shining a light on the incredible work of our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Rapides Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
We are proud of our NICU staff, who provide expert care, compassion, and hope for babies and their families every single day. 💜👶
