🌿 Volunteers Needed – Help With Light Yardwork! 🌿

Are you looking for a simple but meaningful way to give back? We’re looking for volunteers to assist families in our community with light yardwork tasks such as:

🍂 Raking leaves

🌼 Pulling weeds

🌳 Light trimming or cleanup

🚶‍♂️ Just lending a helping hand outside!

Many of the families we serve could use a little extra help maintaining their outdoor spaces, especially during difficult times. Your time and energy can make a big difference!

💛 Whether you can give an hour or an afternoon, every little bit helps.

Meet Dy'Junera, CNA, Hospice Aide

1: How long have you been a CNA? How long have you been with Heart of Hospice?

My family has always been my biggest supporters; I couldn’t do it without them.

3: What has been your biggest challenge as a CNA? Your biggest reward?
My biggest challenge as a CNA is losing a patient I've gotten attached to. The biggest reward is the ability to wake up every day and help families who are in need of my help. Being able to be there for them in these moments brings me so much happiness.

4: What advice would you have for someone just starting their CNA journey?
Provide care to your patients in the same way you would want someone to care for your family.

5: You were just gifted an all expense paid trip! Where are going and who's going with you?
I would travel to Dubai and I would bring my children and husband with me.

My past experience as an CNA has lead me to want to be nothing else but a Hospice Nurse and made a special place for hospice care in my heart.

4: What advice would you have for someone just starting their CNA journey?
For any CNA just starting the journey, always reflect on your WHY? Why providing care is your passion?

🌟 Become a Hospice Volunteer – Make a Difference That Matters 🌟

Have you ever felt called to do something truly meaningful?

Becoming a hospice volunteer is a beautiful way to bring comfort, companionship, and peace to individuals and families during one of life’s most sacred journeys.

As a hospice volunteer, you can:

Sit and talk with patients who simply need a friend
Offer a hand to hold or a listening ear
Help with light errands or provide caregiver breaks
Share music, reading, prayer, or just your presence

No medical experience is needed—just a compassionate heart and a willingness to be there for someone.

Your time can bring light to someone’s hardest days.

Meet Erica, CNA, Hospice Aide

1. How long have you been a CNA? How long have you been with Heart of Hospice?
I’ve been a CNA for 12 years! I’ve had the honor of being with Heart of Hospice 1 year & 11 months! My work anniversary is approaching 🙂

2. Who has been your biggest supporter in your career?
God & myself ! If it wouldn’t be for God I wouldn’t have the strength to get up and do this EVERYDAY! It truly takes a lot to get up & show up for others on a daily basis. But I continue to put God first and because of Him I get up and show up effortlessly everyday. I’ll continue pushing and praying my way through.

3. What has been your biggest reward as a CNA?
The biggest reward is still showing up no matter what, still giving exceptional care and making my patients comfortable. Their thank you’s, I love you’s, hugs, etc are truly rewarding and heartwarming!

4. What advice would you have for someone just starting their CNA journey?
If I’d have to give someone advice starting their CNA journey it would be to not stop here! Use CNA as a stepping stone to your career. This is one of the hardest jobs out here.. physically, mentally and emotionally but don’t ever forget to do it with GRACE.
I’d also advise them to not come into the medical field for an aesthetic. It’s much deeper than cute scrubs, Apple Watches, and Stanley cups—- it’s about the love you carry within your spirit! There’s someone out there who truly needs every ounce of love and compassion that you have to give!

5. You were just gifted an all expense paid trip! Where are going and who's going with you?
I can’t decide between Tokyo, Japan or Bangkok Thailand! With my husband & kids for sure !

HAPPY CNA WEEK!

✨ June 12th – June 18th ✨

From Emily, Account Executive

Kicking off the week, I had the joy of partnering with our amazing referral sources to celebrate the incredible CNAs at New Iberia Manor South and Consolata Rehab & Wellness Center on the Teche!

At Heart of Hospice, we’re beyond grateful for the compassion, dedication, and tireless hard work you bring to your roles each and every day. Your impact on patients, families, and your teams is immeasurable — and we loved being part of this special celebration in your honor!

You are truly “NACHO AVERAGE CNAs,” and we “DONUT” know what we’d do without you! 🌮🍩🌵🩵

Thank you for everything you do — this week and always!

🩵 In June we celebrate our amazing CNAs 🩵

Meet Shanice, CNA, Hospice Aide

1: How long have you been a CNA? How long have you been with Heart of Hospice?
I’ve been a CNA for 15 years. I’ve been with Heart of Hospice for 4 years.

2: Who has been your biggest supporter in your career?
My biggest supporter is my grandmother, she’s a blessing!

3: What has been your biggest challenge as a CNA? Your biggest reward?
My biggest challenge as a CNA is loosing a patient (passing away) and saying goodbye to family members. My biggest reward is learning/hearing the history in life, and the wisdom and knowledge my patients give me. It’s also rewarding knowing you’re providing comfort and support during vulnerable moments.

4: What advice would you have for someone just starting their CNA journey?
My advice to a CNA starting their journey is to pour your heart and compassion into your work.

5: You were just gifted an all expense paid trip! Where are going and who's going with you?
Raising 6 boys can be overwhelming sometimes. So I would take my husband with me to a trip to Jamaica! It would be well deserved and relaxing.
