Another busy weekend for my studio! Three students competed in the State Hymn Festival this past Saturday. Katelynn competed in the 9th grade division, and Hugh and Audrey competed in the 10th grade division. Hugh won the 10th grade division! Congratulations, students! 🎶🎹🎶

Congratulations, students!! Twelve students from my studio competed in the Alexandria District Piano Rally this past weekend! The students had to play 3 pieces by memory, play scales, chords, and arpeggios by memory, sight read 2 pieces they have never seen before, and take a written theory exam!! All students did a wonderful job!! Congratulations again students for all of your hard work! 🎶🎶🎶

It might have been a rainy day but it was a wonderful day to hear some hymn playing!! 33 students from my studio performed in the Alexandria Hymn Festival and they all made a superior rating! Congratulations, students!! 🎉🎶🎶🎶

I love working on hymn festival pieces! My favorite part is some of them get stuck in my head at the time when I need the words the most. 💕 Here’s a studio sneak peek. “I am redeemed, You set me free.” 🎶🎶

So excited! My studio had 16 piano students participate in the LMTA District Piano Rally Competition. 3 students received Outstanding Achievement trophies, 10 placed in the performance division, and all received 90 or above ratings! Piano Rally is a lot of work! Students must perform 3 pieces by memory, sight-read two pieces they have never seen until the day of the rally, a written theory test, and all their scales by memory. Congratulations, students!!🎉

Hugh’s performance of Victor Labenske’s hymn arrangement Blessed Assurance. Hugh has taken piano lessons since PreK. This was one out of three of Hugh’s performances at the State Hymn Playing Festival. In addition, students must play a hymn out of the hymnal with adds with congregational singing and a classical selection. Congratulations again, Hugh!

Audrey’s performance of Eugenie Rocherolle’s hymn arrangement Be Thou My Vision. Audrey has taken piano for eight years. This was one out of three of Audrey’s performances at the State Hymn Playing Festival. In addition, students must play a hymn out of the hymnal with adds with congregational singing and a classical selection. Congratulations again, Audrey!

This past weekend was my studio’s last piano competition for the year. Audrey and Hugh (9th graders) participated in the Louisiana State Baptist Hymn Festival and gave wonderful performances which I will share later this week. Both students received Superior ratings, and Hugh won the 9th grade category for the festival. On a personal note, it was special for me to watch them on Saturday. I have had both students since they were very young. I have seen them grow into the musicians they are today. I have also seen them in the hard places over the years and I’m so incredibly proud of their perseverance through those places! Congratulations, Audrey and Hugh!

Congratulations to the students that performed in the ACEL Fine Arts Festival at LCU this past weekend! Audrey received an Excellent! Wyatt received a Superior! And Lorelai received Best Performance in the Solo Showcase! 🎉🎉🎶🎶🎉🎉

Congratulations, Katelynn! Katelynn competed at the State Junior Beta Convention and won third place in her division (Instrumentalist)! She has received an invitation to compete at National Junior Beta this summer! 🎉
