Today I’ll be speaking to our local youth, in honor of Black History Month on my journey into dentistry. This to include being a high school track and field elite athlete with recognition in Sports Illustrated magazine. Followed with a full athletic track scholarship to The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. My college major was biology with an emphasis on Pre-Dentistry which lead to my pursuit to dental school. I was then accepted into Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry, Class of 2002. While in dental school, I was the recipient to a US Army military scholarship. After graduating from dental school, I served as Captain in the US Army with an overseas tour at Camp Casey, Korea, then returning to the states for a 2 year assignment at Ft. Meade, in Laurel, Maryland. Once, my military commitment was served, I then pursed a General Practice Residency at Lutheran Medical College in Brooklyn, New York, which I completed in 2006. I then located an area of interest, which was Alexandria, VA and located a dental practice to purchase. I started my dental practice, Floss and Smile Dental Office in 2006, at 3223 Duke Street. Finally in 2013, I relocated my dental practice to 1438 Duke Street. I have 2 children; my son is 14 and my daughter is 10.

Also, there will be dental give-a-ways and sign up opportunities for my office mentorship program that will include an inside experience and introduction into dentistry!
