Dear clients and friends,
Today a good friend texted me a picture of her freshly shoveled driveway and walkway with the caption, “Everything hurts.” I think we can all relate.
Here in Northern Virginia, and at Mandamine Massage of Old Town Alexandria, we just weathered a bit of a snow-apocalypse, and many of us are still digging ourselves out. That includes you, my clients and friends. This makes it the perfect time to talk about shoveling snow and massage therapy.
If there was ever a moment when massage therapy can make a real difference, it’s right after a storm like this. Shoveling snow puts intense, unfamiliar strain on the body, and massage therapy is one of the best recovery tools to help restore balance and support healing.
Even if you exercise regularly, lift weights, and do all the right things to stay strong, shoveling snow challenges muscles in ways we do not often use. It commonly leads to soreness or pain in the back, shoulders, neck, and arms. Massage therapy helps reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and increase flexibility, all of which support recovery. Even a single session can provide noticeable relief.
