Common signs of gum disease include bleeding gums, loose teeth, persistent bad breath, red or swollen gums, and receding gums. Gum disease often starts silently, but if left untreated, it can lead to more serious oral health problems, including tooth loss. Early detection and treatment are key to protecting your gums and overall health. Regular dental check-ups, daily brushing and flossing, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help prevent and manage gum disease.

A toothbrush with frayed bristles is less effective at cleaning your teeth and gums, which can lead to plaque buildup and other oral health problems. When you notice your toothbrush starting to wear out or the bristles becoming bent and frayed, it’s time to replace it with a new one. Regularly changing your toothbrush every three to four months helps maintain a healthy, clean smile and keeps your oral hygiene routine working its best.

Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease and, thankfully, it is reversible with good oral hygiene. At this stage, your gums may appear red, swollen, or bleed when you brush or floss, but there is no permanent damage yet. By improving your brushing and flossing routine, and visiting your dentist for regular check-ups, you can reverse gingivitis and prevent it from progressing to more serious forms of gum disease.
