People-pleasing is often misunderstood as just being kind or thoughtful. But true people-pleasing usually comes from fear: fear of rejection, conflict, abandonment, or being a burden.

Meet Samreen, a bilingual Resident in Counseling providing therapy for ages 12+. Samreen understands that starting therapy can feel intimidating, and she deeply honors the courage it takes to reach out.

With a deep respect for the nervous system and the ways our bodies carry our stories, Samreen works collaboratively with clients to:

• Navigate life transitions
• Manage anxiety and overthinking
• Explore recurring patterns
• Gently process experiences that feel stuck or unresolved

Supporting individuals ages 12+, she integrates evidence-based practices, including CBT, ACT, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and especially somatic techniques, always tailoring her work to each client’s goals and comfort level.

From the very first session, her priority is creating a space where you can pause, breathe, feel safe, and grow at your own pace. 🌿

This Women's History Month, we're spotlighting Dr. Thema Bryant - psychologist, author, former APA President, and a powerful voice for making mental health accessible to everyone. 💛

"A history of trauma can give you a high tolerance for emotional pain. Just because you can take it doesn't mean you have to."

So many of us have learned to carry more than our share - quietly, without complaint - because surviving hard things taught us we could. But endurance isn't the same as healing. You don't have to earn rest. You don't have to wait until you break. 💛

March is Social Work Month, and we proudly celebrate the incredible work that our social workers do. These dedicated professionals give so much of themselves to uplift others, advocate for those in need, and foster positive change in our communities.

✨ Meet Our Social Workers ✨

Each one of our social workers is a beacon of compassion, strength, and unwavering support. They go above and beyond to ensure that individuals and families have the resources, care, and guidance they need to thrive.

Whether it’s providing direct support, navigating difficult systems, or empowering individuals to take control of their lives, they make a difference every single day.

Thank you for your commitment, your heart, and your dedication to making the world a better place. You are truly appreciated!

🍀 “May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door.” 🍀

This St. Patrick’s Day, we’re inviting you to check in with yourself, beyond the “I’m fine.”

Take a moment to notice what you’re carrying… and maybe even put down something that no longer serves you. 💚

Whether it’s stress, self-doubt, or just a busy mind, today is a great day to give yourself a little extra kindness (and maybe a little luck, too 😉).

Wishing you a day filled with lightness, laughter, and a touch of magic. 🌈✨

“I’m fine.”

It’s one of the most common phrases we use… and often one of the least honest.

Sometimes it’s not a lie. It’s a shield.

“I’m fine” can really mean:

• I don’t want to burden anyone
• I don’t know how to explain what I’m feeling
• I’m too exhausted to get into it
• If I start talking, I might not be able to stop

The truth is, overwhelm doesn’t always look like breaking down.
It can look like irritability, shutting down, procrastination, forgetfulness, or just feeling… numb.

When your nervous system is overloaded, even finding the words can feel like too much.

So before you answer the world, try answering yourself:

• How am I actually feeling right now?
• What feels heavy?
• What do I need more (or less) of?

You don’t have to open up to everyone.
But being honest with yourself is where relief begins.

💬 If this resonates, take a moment to check in with yourself today. Check out our latest on the HMT blog by Uma Kumar, Resident in Counseling.

When your nervous system is overloaded, your body shifts to survival mode. In survival mode, clarity and/or communication becomes difficult.

It will officially be Spring on March 20th!! Spring is a time for fresh starts, not just in our homes, but in our minds too. 🌸

Just like we clean out closets and open the windows for fresh air, our emotional lives can benefit from a little “spring cleaning.”

This month, we’re focusing on releasing what no longer serves you, whether that’s old self-criticism, unrealistic expectations, lingering resentment, or habits that drain your energy.

Ask yourself:
✨ What am I ready to let go of?
✨ What thoughts or patterns feel heavy?
✨ What would create more space for peace in my life?

Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting the past. It means making room for growth.

A healthier mindset often starts with clearing emotional clutter. 🌱
