As a Certified Hand Therapist, our provider specializes in conditions and injuries that occur from the neck to the fingertip. He has specific, advanced training in the custom fabrication of splints/orthoses, and also has extensive training in scar and wound management.

Today we want to share a little bit more about how we treat our patients at Alex Rehab.

Shay deals with tension in the neck and shoulders that is ongoing. She will experience numbness in the limbs ("hands going to sleep”) if the tension is left untreated.

To treat these symptoms, our hand therapist will do ultrasound on the neck and nerve pathways, followed by deep tissue breakdown and then stretching. This decreases her tension and stops the problematic nerve symptoms from showing up in her arms and hands.

As a result, Shay is able to function better with less pain, tension and numbness.
