Today our Certified Hand Therapist is talking about arthritis pain.

Arthritis is caused by aging joints, injury, or over-use. Symptoms include joint pain, stiffness, and oftentimes, enlarged knuckles. While this is not reversible, therapy can help to prolong the joint, and custom hand splints can enable long-term, pain - free use of certain joints.

🙌🏼 We love when we can teach students about our field of healthcare!

➡️ Maddie Severson, a senior at AAHS, shadowed Amos at as a part of the AAHS healthcare CAPS program. She plans to pursue a future in the field of occupational therapy at in the fall. It just so happens that Amos graduated from their program himself, just a short decade (or two!) ago!

Throughout the next several weeks, our Certified Hand Therapist will share some tips and tricks to try throughout the day to avoid having to suffer through the symptoms various repetitive injuries. Today he is talking about carpal tunnel syndrome.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. Symptoms involve frequent burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumb, index and middle fingers. Ignoring these symptoms can cause more problems, increased medical bills, and possible surgery.
