Exciting news!

A group of authors recently published a new article on the role of computerized motion analysis of X-rays in assessing ligamentous instability in the spine after trauma.

I am a strong advocate for this technology, and I truly believe it will soon become the standard of care in evaluating spinal injuries.

This statement says it well. Neurosurgery remains one of the last frontiers of medicine. Despite the myriad research and funding, we still cannot cure many brain tumors that lead to the devastating demise of people in the primes of their lives. Even with the advancements in spine surgery technology and techniques, people can be left with chronic back and neck problems no matter how much we try to help as neurosurgeons. Much is left to be learned in neurosurgery, and when we do not have answers, it is our job to fall back on decades of training and experience to use our knowledge and the art of medicine to try to improve the lives of our patients. The neurosurgeon personality is one willing to strive to help people against the odds while providing compassion for quality of life and battling against the other elements of healthcare that might not understand or support our endeavors. This is what we do, and we appreciate the continued trust our patients place in us.

Today marks the start of . Throughout August, we will share inspiring patient success stories, highlights of pioneering doctors, the latest technological advancements in neurosurgery, industry updates and much more. I had the privilege of meeting Louisiana State Representative Mike Johnson (District 27), who is also the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Louisiana House of Representatives, recently at a Sons of the American Revolution event where he was honored with a well-deserved award. It was a great pleasure to discuss with him his ongoing legislative efforts to enhance Louisiana’s future by fostering industry and attracting intellectual talent.

I was particularly impressed by Representative Johnson’s commitment to the medical community and his dedication to ensuring that Central Louisiana has the resources and support it needs to thrive. His proactive approach to these critical issues is inspiring.

I encourage everyone to stay engaged with your local representatives. They are our voice in government and are working tirelessly to achieve our shared goals. Let’s keep the dialogue open and continue to support the efforts that drive our community forward!
