When I meet with a new client who is frustrated because they frequently eat when they're not hungry, I can almost guarantee that one thing is missing from their life. Any guesses? Whether you call it self-care or a hobby, doing something just for yourself is vitally important. All too often, we're doing things for others but not filling up our own cups. I encourage you to experiment with committing to something just for yourself - and let me know what you find!

Dieting during menopause is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. 🛑
Most of the advice out there tells us to "eat less and move more," just as our hormones are shifting our metabolism and stress levels. It’s exhausting, and it rarely works long-term. But you probably know that already!
I just wrote a new post about navigating weight changes from a different lens. I examine:
-The biological "why" behind your body changes.
-Practical ways to support your mental and physical health.
-The power of body acceptance in a phase of life that demands so much of us.

Too many can relate to this scenario: You’re at your annual physical.
You’ve had your height, weight, and blood pressure checked. You’re now waiting in the exam room for your doctor to enter so that you can share the progress that you’re really excited about.
You’re feeling proud.
Suddenly your doctor walks in, greets you, and cuts right to the chase.
“Mary, your BMI is above the normal range and your LDL cholesterol is a little high. Otherwise, your labs are normal. You should try to lose weight by cutting calories and exercising every day. Come back in 3-6 months and we’ll see if things have improved.”
Luckily, you can take some steps to improve your next doctor's appointment and this article can help you do just that!
You don't need to avoid the doctor because you fear getting lectured about their weight. Use this article to help you prepare for your follow up doctor appointment.

Are you scared to be around holiday candy?🍫 Afraid that the first bite will lead to a binge? And that you'll spend the next day in a daze? There's something I want you to know: You can enjoy candy and eat it in an amount that makes you feel good. Don't believe me? I know what I'm saying can feel far-fetched, but I witness it every day in my work with women just like you. Trust me: you might feel like you are the only woman on earth who can't be trusted around sugar. You're not!
So, what's the key?
😊Give yourself unconditional permission to eat the candy. The power that this candy has over you is related to the fact that it has been forbidden for so much of your life. Is eating it tied to ‘being good’ at your next meal, extra time on the treadmill, or do you really ‘allow’ it at all outside of a binge?
🍽️Make sure you continue to eat regular meals on holidays. 'Saving up' calories for treats by skipping meals is a sure path to bingeing and feeling crappy afterwards.
🍫Sit down and enjoy the candy you eat. Eating is meant to be a pleasurable experience, but it’s hard to truly enjoy a treat when you sneak a candy bar from your child’s treat bag and quickly pop it in your mouth, hoping no one sees you! 👀 You'll enjoy it so much more when you stop acting like you're doing something shameful. I promise!
Still stuck in the cycle of deprivation and binge eating? You can get to a place where food doesn't hold power over you. Schedule your free call with me to see if you're a good fit for my nutrition coaching program. Call link in bio.

Fantastic article! Eating disorders exist across the weight spectrum and all bodies are worthy of care and healing.
New research shows that our assumptions about eating disorders are often wrong — and that many larger-bodied people are starving themselves.

I help women ditch diets, find health, and learn to love food and their bodies again.
Like many other women, you may be caught in a yo-yo dieting cycle. You try diet after diet. At first, you find weight loss easy, but it is followed by a return of lost weight, plus a few more pounds. Convinced that you need to just find the magic diet that will help you lose the weight for good, you try and try again. But at the end of each diet, you find those pounds creeping back. And now you have cravings like you’ve never experienced before. And you hate the way you look and feel. Your self-esteem and self worth plummet with each passing year. You don't even experience joy when you eat anymore because all foods are either ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in your mind.
I’m here to tell you it’s not your fault! Would you be surprised to learn that there is NOT ONE valid study that demonstrates long term weight loss for more than 5% of participants. Not one! But the diet industry (that continues to make record profits) has convinced you that there is something wrong with you. They continually make false promises to lure you into giving them more of your money.
The answer lies within you! You are not the problem, but the solution. We are all born knowing how to eat to nourish our bodies. But for some of us, our life experiences get in the way and we lose touch with the eating experience. We use food to calm unpleasant emotions or we engage in restrictive meal plans that tell us what, when and how to eat. And then we find ourselves with in food cravings, increased anxiety around food, the inability to sense our hunger and fullness cues, and the belief that we can punish ourselves happy.
I’m here to help guide you on a journey towards healing. You can be healthy and happy while enjoying the foods you like. You can find joy in exercise as something other than a way to burn off extra calories. You can love your body and your life. You can be the intuitive eater you were born to be!
