Hong Y. Liu, M.D. graduated from Henan University of Chinese Medicine in 1983. Afterward, he received his M.S. from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 1985. Dr. Liu came to the United States in 1989 working as a World Health Organization Fellow at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He continued his education with an internship and residency program in Internal Medicine of the University of Texas at Houston from 1996 to 1999 before joining the Freedman Clinic of Internal Medicine in July 1999.

Dr. Liu is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Liu is an active member of CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Rapides Regional Medical Center, and Dubois Hospital. He is the past president of Medical Staff and the past chairman at the Joint Oversight Committee for Medicine in the CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Dr. Liu serves as the medical director at Oceans Behavioral Hospital in Alexandria, the medical director for the Oaks Nursing Home, the co-director for the Summit Nursing Home, and also the medical director of Louisiana Home Health. In addition, Dr. Liu is a member and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Currently, Dr. Liu resides in Alexandria with his wife, Haiyan (Ph. D & RPH). Together they have three children: Kevin (MD), Harry (a medical student) and Amy (a college student).
