As the leading organization representing clinicians and researchers, is committed to advancing evidence-based policies that protect liver health. Vaccination against at birth is one of the most effective tools we have to prevent lifelong infection and reduce liver disease, including liver cancer.

The CDC’s universal hepatitis B birth-dose recommendation is a proven public health success. Since its adoption in 1991:

1. Infant hepatitis B infections in the U.S. have declined by 95%
2. More than 90,000 deaths have been prevented
3. Ranked among the most impactful childhood immunizations
4. A recent study also found that hepatitis B vaccination has prevented over 6 million infections and nearly 1 million hospitalizations in less than 30 years.

AASLD stands ready to work with legislators, the Administration, and public health partners to continue the incredible progress achieved through hepatitis B vaccination.
