💖The KRHC Cares Committee presented our October donation to Sandra Hoskins with Operation Christmas Child. 💖 This year the KRHC group was able to make 42 boxes for children in need!

Operation Christmas Child is a global project run by Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief organization. The program collects shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items and delivers them to children in need around the world. Each shoebox is meant to provide joy and demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way—often, it’s the first gift these children have ever received.

Since its start in 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 232 million shoebox gifts to children in over 170 countries and territories. Individuals, families, churches, and groups can participate by packing a shoebox and dropping it off during National Collection Week (late November).

We are proud of our KRHC Cares Committee - an employee-owned initiative where staff members make a direct impact on our community by contributing monthly donations to non-profits. This generous group of employees was able to donate $410 to Operation Christmas Child.

Did you know November 18th is National Injury Prevention Day? - An annual event dedicated to raising awareness about injury prevention and promoting safety in our communities.

At KRHC, all patients treated for traumatic injuries that require hospitalization are entered into a statewide trauma registry. This registry is part of a coordinated effort to improve trauma care and injury prevention across Iowa.

Why It Matters:
👉The registry supports statewide injury prevention and research initiatives.
👉It helps identify trends and risk factors for traumatic injuries.
👉It guides local safety efforts and community education.
👉It ensures that care meets state trauma system standards.

In recognition of Injury Prevention, we also wanted to highlight pediatric trauma cases from within our community to raise awareness and promote safety.

Trauma trends over the past year show:
👎ATV-related Injuries – 43%
👎Slips, Trips, and Falls – 43%
👎Other Causes – 14%

These percentages reflect the types of injuries we've seen and underscore the importance of prevention in everyday environments. Whether it's using protective gear, supervising children's activities, or maintaining safe play areas, small actions can make a big difference.

How You Can Help:
💚Light up green to show your support
💚Follow manufacturer guidelines for on- and off-road vehicle use

Together, we can create safer spaces for children and build a healthier future!
