đź’™ Thank You, Karla! đź’™

We would like to give a special shout out to Karla Schutter, Secretary/Biller for Community Health and Hospice. Karla’s dedication, organization, and behind‑the‑scenes work play a vital role in supporting our patients, families, and care teams. Thank you, Karla, for all you do and for being such an important part of our team!

Today is National Administrative Professionals Day. Join us in celebrating these wonderful ladies and thanking them for all they do!

Karla Schutter, Secretary/Biller for Community Health and Hospice, Heather Brandt, Executive Assistant, and Mara Walstead, Clinic Office Coordinator, go above and beyond for not only their departments, but the organization!

Without them, KRHC would not run smoothly! They support the team by keeping us organized and efficient, all while being flexible and handling whatever is thrown their way with a smile on their face. 💖👏

We are incredibly grateful for our amazing KRHC volunteers. We have many volunteers throughout or organization including Hospice, the front desk, Gift Shop, Auxiliary Board, SHIIP, Board of Trustees and more!

In 2025 alone, these dedicated individuals donated over 3,600 hours of their time to support our patients, visitors, and staff. 👏Your generosity, kindness, and commitment make a lasting impact on our hospital and our community. At Hospice of the Heartland, we truly appreciate all of the physicians we have the privilege of working with. Today, on Doctor’s Day, we would especially like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank our Medical Director, Dr. Michael Lampe, and our Assistant Medical Director, Dr. Rachel Venteicher.

We are sincerely grateful for everything they do for our patients, their families, and our team. Their dedication, compassion, and leadership make a meaningful difference every day, and we are honored to work alongside them.

🌟 March is National Social Work Month! 🌟

Join us in recognizing our Social Worker, Kathy Dearchs! Thank you for your compassion, dedication, and the meaningful impact you make every day.

March is National Social Work Month, a time to recognize the extraordinary individuals who support the well‑being of our patients, families, and community. Today, we want to highlight and celebrate someone who embodies the heart of this work every single day — Kathy Dearchs, LISW our Community Health and Hospice Social Worker.

Kathy brings compassion, clarity, and calm to some of the most meaningful and challenging moments our patients and their loved ones face. Whether she is guiding families through difficult decisions, coordinating resources, or providing a steady, reassuring presence, Kathy approaches every interaction with empathy and professionalism that truly reflect the mission of KRHC.

Her dedication ensures that those we serve feel supported, understood, and never alone. Kathy’s work often happens quietly and behind the scenes, but its impact is profound and deeply felt across our organization and throughout Kossuth County.

Please join me in thanking Kathy for the vital role she plays and for the compassion she shares so generously. We are incredibly fortunate to have her on our team.

Hospice of the Heartland

When a patient’s care transitions from curing to caring, Hospice of the Heartland is there. Services are provided to clients diagnosed with a terminal illness who can no longer benefit from curative treatment. The typical Hospice patient has a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Services are provided by a team of trained, local professionals—physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists, dietitians, home health aides, and volunteers—who provide medical, care and support services not only to the patients but also to the entire family.
