Our Memory Care residents put their engineering hats on this month for a little hands-on STEM fun! 🧠🔧

Using popsicle sticks, clothespins, binder clips, and rubber bands, they built creative structures designed to hold weight while exploring balance and structural integrity.

It was the perfect mix of science, imagination, and teamwork—and everyone jumped right in!

Our Veterans Day tradition has been going strong for four years, and it continues to be one of the most meaningful celebrations at The Oaks. 🇺🇸

This year, we proudly honored 20 veterans with stunning portraits that featured personal artifacts and photos from their military journeys. During our 4th annual unveiling ceremony, Jim’s patriotic songs and poetry filled the room with emotion and pride. ❤️

One unforgettable moment came when two Vietnam veterans discovered they had served on the same boat and in the same infantry group, only realizing it after meeting here at our community.

These are the connections and stories that remind us why we celebrate so deeply. 💙

Residents are learning new techniques and discovering their own artistic styles under the guidance of our talented resident instructor, Marilyn. This week’s muse? A graceful flamingo! 🦩 The results were as vibrant and unique as the artists themselves.

Pressed flowers, paintbrushes, and a whole lot of joy. Residents created their own floral vases under the creative eye of Loretta, our floral expert, who shared her tips and tricks for the perfect fall arrangement. Every vase turned out as beautiful and bold as its maker.

Operation G.I. Joe was a mission of love and gratitude. Earlier this week, our very own Vietnam Veteran, Joe, embarked on the Lake County Honor Flight to Washington D.C.—and our community made sure he felt celebrated every step of the way. ❤️

Residents and team members secretly wrote 82 heartfelt letters for his Mail Call, and the Lake in the Hills/Algonquin Fire Department helped us give him an unforgettable early-morning send-off.

We couldn’t be prouder to have Joe, and so many incredible veterans—call The Oaks at Algonquin home. 💙

Runways aren’t just for Paris, they are for Algonquin too. ☂️💜 Our 4th Annual Artbrella Runway Show was an incredible success! Residents proudly strutted down our giant purple runway with their hand-painted Artbrellas while families cheered them on. Guests even took home some stunning umbrellas and wood-burned creations.

Most importantly, together we raised over $2,000 for the McHenry County Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It was a heartwarming morning filled with artistry, laughter, and the joy of seeing loved ones’ creativity on display, all while supporting a cause that matters deeply to us. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
