Creative Space Online Counseling Services

Creative Space Online Counseling Services Read all about me in the about section :-D. I would love the opportunity to share in your journey! However, that sounds really distant and is not really me.

Normally, I would list my degrees and credentials and how I am perfectly qualified to handle any issues. I am a warm individual, but I want you to decide whether or not we will work well together. I will list off my accomplishments at the end for those of you who want to read that long. Some of the things you may want to know from an about page include: Do I know what I am doing? Why do I work with adolescents and clients with trauma and anxiety. The first part will be self evident if you choose to read until the very end. The second part is this: I love working with people that have been through trauma, because it is scary imagining trudging through the black icky stuff that makes up the trauma. Once people come through the other side of it, it is a beautiful thing to witness. I also love working with adolescent guys, because I feel like this particular population gets a bad wrap at times. It seems like the world tells them they can’t when they definitely can. I enjoy taking the journey with people as we explore the unknown together. As with any journey, you will come out smarter and wiser at the end than when we started. However, not all journeys are fun and sometimes, you find yourself with a flat tire or lost. Don’t worry. I will be there to help. That’s what I am here for! I work best with people who want to make changes because they can’t stand being unhappy anymore. I cannot change who you are, but I am willing to help you make some changes. I will not placate people, and I will expect you to work. Even though I expect you to work, I will be there with you with that tire iron or a map to help. We will work through it together. I am not afraid to go to the depths of the heartache and embarrassment, and I have been doing this for so long that nothing surprises me. So, to answer your first question, I know what I am doing, and I do it because I love it. Answer to Question 2:

I have been working with people with mental health problems since 2004. I have experience working with kids since 2002, and there is a reason that I have worked with kids for this long. They are a special population which have unique perspectives. I treasure when a kid is able to see how they are special and realize the importance that they hold. I feel as though kids don’t always have the opportunity to explore or have their voices heard. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the individuals that I have had the opportunity to do so. WORDS OF AFFIRMATION: “I like to write love notes or express my appreciation on index cards at night—taping them to the mirror (and in his truck) so when he wakes up he finds them when he leaves for work. It makes for a better day!” —Amanda
ACTS OF SERVICE: “My boyfriend bends to help me put my shoes on whenever I take them off when we’re together and it’s time to go. I have never asked for this, but it feels so beautiful that he does it. It brings back wonderful childhood feelings.” —Maryamu
RECEIVING GIFTS: “There is a particular flower vendor in a city near our home. On occasion, when my husband happens to be in the area, he will stop and buy me colored roses. He knows I'd rather have a dozen colored roses that last 3 days than two dozen red roses that last 2 weeks.” —Janice
QUALITY TIME: “My younger sister and I would go on frequent walks in a big field on our property on nice evenings. Then we’d sit in the grass and talk to each other, tease each other, and have fun together like sisters do. It was a really good way to spend quality time together and make good memories.” —Lizzie
PHYSICAL TOUCH: “In a long distance relationship it’s often difficult to provide physical touch. So I tried to be creative with my partner. I purchased and sent him a gift-wrapped weighted blanket to wrap up in to feel like I’m cuddling him. Also, inside the box was a gift card to a massage I had already scheduled. He just needed to show up. We’ve made it a ritual until we get to see each other.” —Toni

WORDS OF AFFIRMATION: “Our wedding anniversary is a July 11th. So, anytime we see 7-11 on a digital clock we remind one another. Even when we are not together, one of us will text the other, ‘7-11’. No matter what’s going at the time, it makes me feel good even for a moment.” —Charles
ACTS OF SERVICE: “I love to sew and embroider. While doing laundry, I noticed some holes in some clothes. I put a patch in my dad’s work pants and darned my sister’s favorite sweater. Both of them were very happy to receive their clothes back unexpectedly repaired and now whenever they wear them, they’ll remember I love them.” —Maggie
RECEIVING GIFTS: “My husband knows I love surprises so when I came home from a girls trip he surprised me with a hotel room for the night so I didn’t have to go back to reality for another day.” —Calliope
QUALITY TIME: “My husband likes to fish. I think it’s boring. So, I take along a book or craft that I can do on the bank while he fishes. Always quick to take a break from what I am doing when he has some action on the line, because that is what demonstrates that I care about what he is doing.” —Becky
PHYSICAL TOUCH: “It can be difficult for my oldest daughter to get up and going in the morning. When she’s having a rough time, I often feel my stress rising and then I’m not the best version of myself either. I’ve found that holding or hugging her for a minute right away after waking her can ease us both into a morning filled with more love, patience, and cooperation. 60 seconds can truly make a difference!” —Rachel
