New birth on the farm is always my favorite, especially when it comes from my favorite goat, Laura.

Exactly one year ago, I thought for sure Laura wasn’t going to make it; she was very sick. For several days, even weeks, I hand-fed her and spent hours and hours in the barn, living on no sleep. It took a couple of months for her to fully be herself again, but look at her now. A couple of hours ago, she blessed us with twins, a little boy and a little girl.

My mother’s name was Laura; she passed away when I was only three. A few years ago, I went to look at some baby goats, and I asked the owner what her name was, and she said, 'I know it’s silly, but a coworker said if I had a girl, I had to name it after her.' She said her name is Laura.

Tears flooded my eyes. We bought her and her sister, and named her sister after Nick’s late mom, Sharon.

Laura, you are a rockstar.

This week's all about adjusting to new routines for teachers, students, and parents. Remember, you've got the power to make a difference in someone's life every day. I'm challenging you to pray for teachers, students, and parents, and to take a step out of your comfort zone to meet someone new. Be a light for someone who needs it, and don't forget to be kind to yourself and others as you get used to the new schedule. I’m believing this will be the best year yet!❤️
