Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation is a 501(C) 3 non-profit volunteer based humanitarian organization which help organize the medical mission of the United States together with TIMA (Tzu Chi International Medical Association), an organized global service network of licensed doctors and nurses who serve as volunteers. During disasters, TIMA volunteers cooperate with Tzu Chi Disaster Relief Committee by going to the disaster area to help treat the sick and wounded victims. 💙💛 “Something can change in just one day…”

For Tosha, a mother from Ukraine, that day meant leaving her home, family, and the life she once knew. The hardest part? Answering her children’s questions: “Why aren’t we at home? Why can’t we see grandma and grandpa?”

But amid the uncertainty, hope arrived through the kindness of strangers. 🌍✨ At the Tzu Chi Mobile Clinic from our Tzu Chi Northwest Region, Tosha and her family found not just medical care, but compassion, comfort, and a reminder that they are not alone.

With the support of Tzu Chi Medical Foundation and its volunteers, families like Tosha’s continue to find healing, dignity, and strength to move forward.

Through health centers, mobile clinics, and outreach events, Tzu Chi Medical Foundation delivers compassionate care where it’s needed most. ❤️🌍

🏥 In California, three Health Centers, recognized with FQHC Look-Alike status since 2020, offer medical, dental, acupuncture, and vision services with love and respect.
🚐 Since launching the first Mobile Clinic in 2000, Tzu Chi’s fleet has grown to 12 clinics, now serving communities in California, Nevada, and New York.
🤝 Thanks to the support of Tzu Chi International Medical Association volunteers from 24 U.S. chapters, nationwide outreach events touch lives across the country.

🎉 Tzu Chi Medical Foundation shines again! 🎉

On September 11, 2025, Tzu Chi Medical Foundation once again received high recognition from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) during its rigorous evaluation.

Since becoming Federally Qualified Health Centers Look-Alike (FQHC Look-Alike) in 2020, Tzu Chi Health Centers have been dedicated to serving uninsured and underserved communities with compassionate patient-centered care.

This year’s evaluation praised our team’s professionalism, patient-centered services, and commitment to community health. With strong teamwork and support from our volunteers and partners, we proudly earned excellent results that strengthen our foundation to one day become fully certified FQHCs.

We are deeply grateful for the strong support of our Tzu Chi volunteers. Under the leadership of Chairman Tim Chang, the Board of Directors, and CEO Dr. Stephen Denq, Tzu Chi Medical continues to take steady steps caring for residents in need of medical support. 🎉🥰🎊🥳🙏

On April 27, Tzu Chi’s Wilmington Health Center opened its doors for a free medical outreach clinic, prioritizing basic health education and offering diagnoses and treatments for the community.

From dentistry 🦷 and optometry 👓 to internal medicine, scalp health checks, and even free haircuts 💇, neighbors received the support they often can’t afford due to barriers in health insurance, gaps in coverage, or the high costs.

Maria Lopor, a long-time volunteer in Wilmington, visited as a patient for a change after experiencing knee pain and shared: “Right now, I feel, from when I came in, from 1 to 10, right now I am good. It’s like an 8. Thank you for everything.” 🫶

📅 On July 17, 2025, we took part in Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) ’s Healthcare Champions of Change Reception, as Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation was honored with the 🏆 Community Advocate Award.
🙏 Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation (BTCMF) Board Member Debra Boudreaux gratefully received the award on behalf of BTCMF and gave a moving speech. In her remarks, Boudreaux expressed, “At the heart of Tzu Chi Medical’s mission is the belief that compassion in action can heal not only illness, but also fear, inequity, and despair.” 💖🌍
💡 APIAHF’s is dedicated to achieving health equity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities through law, policy, and practice.
