Juan Antonio “Tony” Garza, Jr., age 63, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Wednesday,
January 7, 2026. He was born on May 28, 1962 in Alice, Texas.

Tony was a loving son, spouse, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Above all, he loved his family deeply—especially his sons, grandchildren, and siblings. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in supporting and guiding those he loved.

A skilled mechanic, Tony loved working with his hands and fixing anything that needed repair. He especially loved finding vehicles in need of extensive work and transforming them from “trash to
treasure,” bringing them back to life with his mechanical skills and vivid creativity. Many of which he would paint in his favorite color, candy apple red. He also had a natural gift for teaching and
mentoring, always willing to take someone under his wing and share his knowledge and experience.

Though he worked hard, Tony also knew how to enjoy life. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing, going to the beach, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed listening to music and
watching his grandsons complete in sports. He was the life of the party, effortlessly making friends with anyone he met, and living each day fully. His laughter, energy, and warmth touched everyone
who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lamar Garza, whom he missed dearly.

He is survived by his father, Antonio Garza; his spouse, Irene Olivares; mother of his sons, Virginia Estrada; his sons, Juan “Johnny” Antonio (Dorothy Garza) Garza, III, Joseph Adrian Garza, and Jacob Andres Garza; his grandchildren, Gael Antonio Garza, Cruz Antonio Garza, Noah Garza, and Maya Garza; and siblings, Sylvia Garza, Maria Elena (Manuel Antonio Peña) Peña, Mary Olson, Elma (Candido Cantu, III) Cantu, Jose Angel Garza, and Jesus Garza.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1010 Beam
Station Rd., Alice, Texas at 1:00 p.m.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gael Garza, Candido Cantu, III, Manuel Antonio Peña, Alvaro Garza, Stevie Espindola, and Gilbert Estrada.

Tony will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, the lessons he shared, the joy he brought to every room he entered, and the passion and creativity he poured into everything he loved.

Johnie Paul Cavazos Sr., age 72, of Alice, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 7, 1953, in Mathis, Texas, to the late Francisco and Guadalupe Cavazos.

Johnie, familiarly known as JPC, was a hardworking truck driver for many years, a role he took great pride in and one that reflected his strong work ethic, dedication, and responsibility to provide for his family. Through long miles and countless hours on the road, he remained committed to those he loved most. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from time spent with his family. He especially cherished his grandchildren, finding happiness in the simplest moments—sitting on the front porch watching them play, listening to their laughter, and soaking in memories that would last a lifetime. Those quiet, ordinary moments became extraordinary because he was there, fully present and deeply content.

Johnie had a fondness for collecting antiques and personal treasures, each one holding a story or memory close to his heart and filling his sheds with many odds and ends. Johnie was known for his signature style, often wearing the trendiest cowboy hat and boots, a look that was unmistakably his. He enjoyed sharing a Crown and Coke with friends and had a sweet tooth that everyone knew well. He often reminisced about earlier days playing dice and poker, sharing stories that brought smiles and laughter to those around him. His presence was steady and comforting, a familiar constant for his family. Johnie leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion, one that will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the family he so deeply cherished.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Aida Cavazos of Alice, Texas.

He is also survived by his children: George (Maggie) Cavazos, Vickie Cavazos, John Paul Cavazos Jr., Chris Cavazos, Jose (Silvia) Longoria, Israel Longoria, daughter-in-law Marie Marquez-Cavazos, and honorary son Leonardo (Pita) Hernandez. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Kasandra (Adely) Cavazos, John Richard Cavazos Jr., Shawn P. Cavazos, Emmanuel Andres Cavazos, Joshua Rodriguez, Ashley Longoria, Julisa Ruiz, Anissa Ruiz, Robert Anthony Ruiz, Gilbert Longoria, and Sebastian Carmona; six great-grandchildren.

Johnie is also survived by his siblings: Corina (Ignacio) Estrada, Patsy (Paul) Doria, Mary (Jesus) Palacios, Ralph (Rosa) Cavazos, Louis (Late Irma) Cavazos, Nancy Gonzalez, Roger (Gracie) Cavazos, and Ricky (Janel) Cavazos; Several nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his beloved sons, whom he missed dearly, John Richard Cavazos Sr. and Frankie Cavazos; his brothers Melicio Cavazos, Tommy Cavazos, Francisco Cavazos Jr., and Raymond Cavazos; and his parents Francisco and Guadalupe Cavazos.

A Trucker’s Last Ride
This trucker’s run has come to an end, The road grew quiet around the bend.
The engine cooled, the load laid down, He parked his rig on Heaven’s ground.
No more long nights or endless miles, no more tired eyes or weary smiles.
The highways rest, the journey’s through, He answered God’s final call, it’s true.
Now angels guide him thru roads of gold, where peace is found and burdens fold.
He rests at last, safe in God’s sight, As Heaven welcomed his final ride.
May God ride with you…. 10-4 and Goodbye.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Opus Care Hospice for their compassion, care, and support during the final days of Johnie’s life.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 AM at Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, TX 78332.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St. Alice, TX 78332
