Preschool Readiness Groups at Reach for Speech are continuing for the Fall! 🤩🎒If you have a current or future preschooler who could benefit from additional practice with skills like following multi-step instructions, establishing routines, and socializing with peers this group is perfect for them. Are you and your child ready for the new school year? Take some time to consider how you can help set your child up for success this year! If your child struggles with transitions, lacks communication skills, or has difficulty with routines, it can be a good idea to practice some of the skills outlined here. From rehearsing interactions like first day introductions to making sure that they have the fine motor skills necessary to open their lunchbox, practice and communication can really help your child thrive as they begin a new year of learning!

Please help us welcome Miss Emily to our Speech Therapy Team! 🤩 Miss Emily received her undergraduate degree from Geneva College⁠ before going on to complete her Master's at Thiel College. 👩🏻‍🎓📚️ She has clinical experience working with both children and adults but is most interested in early language development and AAC devices! 🗣️📱She is excited to be joining the R4S team where she can work in collaboration with our OT team on feeding therapy. 😊🍴In her free time Miss Emily loves anything to do with art and crafting- when she's not being a speech therapist, you can find her at her art desk! ⁠👩🏻‍🎨🎨 Welcome Miss Emily!

We are so happy to have another new Therapist joining Reach for Speech! 🤩Please help us welcome Miss Cassidy to our OT team! 👏Cassidy received her degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from West Chester University before completing her doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Chatham University here in Pittsburgh! 👩🏻‍🎓⁠
Before R4S, she worked in Early Intervention and gained a lot of great experience in feeding, she was even able to become Sensory-Oral-Sequential (SOS) Feeding certified! 🍴She is super passionate about feeding and working with the Autistic community, as she has both personal and professional experience with this population.🥰 In her free time, Miss Cassidy loves hanging out with her dog Oakley, and cheering on all of her Philly teams (Go Birds!) 🦅

Our friend Ryan worked on action words with Miss Mia during speech last week while using our train toys to make it fun!🤩🚂 First, Ryan and Miss Mia used the train track pieces to build a huge route all around the room.🛤️ Then they took turns pushing the train to each other, each time with a different verb vocab flashcard in the cart. You can see here they were practicing "Jump!" 🦘⁠
They were able to integrate the practice into their play as well by applying words like "push," "go," and "stop" to the actions of the train! 🚃⁠
Our therapists love finding ways to make sessions fun and engaging while still making progress towards goals! 😁📝

Please help us Welcome Miss Taylor to the Reach for Speech Team! 🥰 Miss Taylor graduated with her Masters from PennWest Edinboro. She previously worked at a private school for kiddos with multiple disabilities in emotional support classrooms. 🧑🏻‍🦼🧡 She loves learning about AAC and helping her kids find their voice in their own ways! 📱🗣️ She is also passionate about incorporating sensory play into her sessions. What makes Miss Taylor such an asset to the Reach for Speech team is her dedication to advocating for her patients! Mimi has worked so hard over the last three weeks, building strength and balance to work toward standing and taking steps with forearm crutches as well as improving her independence with self-care tasks.
