✨The Fetal Ejection Reflux✨ It’s so real. Your body pushes and bears down hard, it’s a reflux that happens and it’s beyond your control. My body was pushing and I was just letting it happen. I legitimately had no idea my baby was about to fly out, I was shocked! I’ll say, natural, physiologic birth is truly unbelievable — best, hardest, most out-of-body and blissed out experience in all of life.

Also, when medical personnel try to tell moms “not to push” when their body is naturally bearing down, I think that might be the biggest pet peeve in all of life. You 👏🏾 can’t 👏🏾 control 👏🏾 it!!! Listen to your body. Barefootmidwife

In labor/birth there is a positive hormonal feedback loop and a negative hormonal feedback loop. As a birth worker and keeper of this sacred space, I work hard to not only educate my clients on this hormonal response but help create a space where they feel safe, unobserved, and not in fight or flight. This review brought me to tears 😭 Birth work is advocacy work 🤍 My main goal in being a doula isn’t to promise a certain outcome (although doulas absolutely improve birth outcomes), rather I am here to make sure expecting parents feel heard, supported, and empowered to make informed decisions. It’s very important to have agency in your birth!!! I have seen, too often, where people are forced to be passive participants in their birth instead of active participants in their birth, especially at hospitals. People should be empowered to listen to their bodies, their inner knowing, and be active participants in the BIRTH OF THIER BABY!!!!!

I am so excited to announce that I will be teaching in-person childbirth education classes in Yucaipa starting this summer 🎉🎉

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about childbirth and how to navigate your birth using evidence based information, your intuition, and agency.

Currently, there are NO local childbirth education classes 😱 outside of hospital classes. This was wild to me. I have been working to launch my childbirth education classes and this really sealed the deal for me. So, let’s do this!!

✨Birth Magic ✨

And YOU are the magic. Truly! It does take confidence and a knowing that our bodies have been doing this since the beginning of time. Birth is not a medical event (90% of the time) and our bodies are capable of giving birth naturally, to a “big baby”, after 40 weeks, even if you’re older than 35 (🙄🙄) and allllll the other reasons the medical model want you to think you need help with a natural process.

This mom had a traumatic first birth and wanted something different this time. And she got the birth she wanted. Mostly because she BELIEVED she could. She was excited and not fearful. She labored in the safety of her home as long as possible. When we got to the hospital, she was 8cm and doing great. When her body started to naturally bear down and push, she listed to her body and leaned in —- even tho the medical staff was a saying “wait, don’t push!”

I am telling you, there’s nothing quite like having your baby on your terms. It’s empowering beyond what one can comprehend!!!! The birth bliss is on another level and I am so here for it.

Another BIRTH day for one of my doula clients. This was her first baby, she was induced, declined Pitocin, and had a very speedy unmedicated birth!! 🤍 Don’t forget you have options… you have agency… wether you have an induction or an unmedicated birth, you get to decide what’s best for you and your family.

Did you know that you typically have baby much faster, especially the pushing stage (!!!), without an epidural?! If you have an epidural, they will let a first time mom push upwards of 4 hours 🫠 There is no easy way out, it’s all hard, it’s more a matter of choosing what aligns with you!

I can’t help but to feel so honored every single time a family a allows me to be part of their birth team. I am grateful and in awe…. Again!
